I work in a school and have to leave the house at 7.30 in the morning as the school where I teach is an hour's drive from my place. I am at school for the whole day and therefore I need to have lunch at the workplace. Now my problem is that as I have to leave home so early, I really need to fill up my tiffin with food that can be cooked in a hurry or in a very short time. So usually I end of taking sandwiches for lunch and by the time it is evening I am ravenously hungry again. I am not that creative where my cooking is concerned I guess. Please help me and give me a few ideas for a quick fix lunches. I really need the help. What would you guys do in such a situation.

one thing that may work for you is what ever you are having for dinner the night before make a little extra it is prepared and only take a few secounds to pack a sandwich and some fruit and crakers always good so that will give you snacks and a few items for your lunch

That is an idea. But then there is no fridge to store the food and no microwave to heat it later. But still it is worth trying.

many of times the foods that i eat will do just fine if to eat even if you cant heat them or keep the cold try to store in a place where it will stay cold and not be sitting in the sun all day long

Yes I have been teaching for the last 8 years. Earlier there was no problem with lunch as mostly I worked in schools that had food cooked there itself and served to the children. So the teachers were served the same food. But now where I work I need to make my own arrangements. And I cant keep telling my mom. So I need to find some quick fixes. Egg would be a good idea though.

I don't know if they sell these where you are, but here you can buy thermos containers that will keep food cold or hot for several hours. If you can find something like that, you could take leftovers or anything either hot or cold. Another way that might help would be to make an insulated bag that would help keep food hot or cold. Three or more layers of cloth with a triple layer of newspaper between each one works. Other than that, fruit or fresh vegetables along with nuts and/or cheese can be filling if you get enough.

Insulated bags. Now that I think I could get at one of the malls. Hmm should try the cloth and newspaper insulation sometime. Then I can take leftovers.

I used to buy all kind of vegetables already peeled and kept in the fridge, not freezer. take our few veggies from each beggie, mix with oil and add some cheese, feta cheese, sour cream, or maybe leftovers chicken or beef from a day before. It's healthy, fast and cheap. other days, I make myself instant oatmeal meal. Mix in some fresh fruits cut up the night before,or some nuts.

A sandwich is great but if you're still hungry then you need fiber to keep you full. I know I fill up more on a sandwich if the bread is wheat. Apples, Bananas, carrot sticks, olives, raisins....all these are good too and can be snacked on during the day.

You have plenty of time I knew of workers who leave as early as 4 o'clock in the morning and travel 2 hours before reaching their office and report to duty at 7 o'clock a.m. and most them was able to prepare food at home and have some for lunch box. They said before going to bed, they prepare the ingredients of the food they want to cook in the morning when they woke up before going to the bathroom they set the fire for the rice and the fish or the meat with the ingredients cooked them on opposite stove and proceed to the bathroom after taking a bath the food are ready to eat after dressing themselves fill up the lunch box and eat after eating they relax for 3o minutes and then proceed to work with their lunch box. Some of them organized themselves and have their food cooked at the Office and some cooked their food before going to sleep.
