There are a lot of patients in our hospital who were contacted with dengue fever. Children and adult alike but mostly children. Parents, families were not prepared for this kind of illness. Financially, this could drain them. I am wondering if their are some solutions out there that could be of help before they seek hospital confinement. Any suggestions?

Preventing dengue is one thing, but once a person contracted it, seeking hospital help is the best way to go. This is not something that you can try home remedies first as this is really a serious sickness that can immediately escalate to a level that is life-threatening in a matter of hours. My sister is a nurse and she said once there was a 4 year old kid who got a high grade fever for 2 straight days. By the 4th hour of the 3rd day, they rushed her to the hospital and 2 hours after that she's already gone. Just like that. I know that I am not the best person to speak about illnesses and treatments but the best thing to do when dengue is contracted is to go to a hospital ASAP. There are public or state hospitals and they cannot refuse a family in times of utmost emergency.

Dengue has been on the news for years, always alerting and advising people what to do with their surroundings. But I guess people tend to disregard this so they are victimized. In our area, the government has this program wherein they will spray smoke so that those houses infested with larvae will be mosquito free. But there are people who refuse to join their program for you have to put plastics on all your furniture. They see it as a hassle.
People living beside creeks are also victimized by these mosquitoes. I don't store water and I make sure that I don't have stagnant water even outside my house. I clean everyday even if it's tiring but it's ok. Health is more important for me.

Here is an interesting site with helpful advice on dealing with Dengue Fever. http://earthclinic.com/CURES/dengue.html There are also some who claim papaya is helpful in curing it. But there are those who say it doesn't. Like a lot of things I guess you have to try it to find out. That information is here www.sundayobserver.lk/2010/07/25/fea02.asp There is more information on the net regarding papaya and Dengue Fever. Hope this helps.
