Well, Day 1 of not having a cigarette! I started a post which you can check out here http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2750609.aspx There were times when I wanted one so bad, but I hid my ashtrays,I hid my cigarette case and don't have any cigarettes. Granted I've stayed home today and haven't been around smokers, my main concentration is going without a cigarette. Once I've gone without a cigarette for a few days and am around some one who smokes, I'm sure I'll be like a non-smoker being around a smoker.
Now, my husband chews tobacco and he went to get him a can of chew and wanted to know if I needed a pack of cigarettes. I told him I didn't and he looked at me strangely, "Saying are you sure?" I said I was sure for him to go ahead and get him a can of chew but no smokes for me. He said he was still getting his can of chew. I told him that was fine, he doesn't have to give up chew (he knows he needs to)but I'm quitting smoking! *pat on the back*

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply my husband isn't supportive, because he is!He was just assuming that since I'm not smoking anymore, I will want to go back to smoking, because he is still able to chew. I told him, he doesn't have to quit, just because I quit. He, too knows that he should quit chew, but I think he will be worse on the nerves when he tries quitting!
Yes, it's very nice to know that people that I haven't met personally be have become to know (through the internet) on myLot are very supportive!! Thanks for the support!

Thanks for the support @bjc66bjc!
Hopefully you'll never want to smoke and you'll never know what it's like to quit, even though there are smokers around you!

It's a very tough thing to do.....I have been trying myself and have slipped back..and need to get back on track. Not only for the health wise..but money wise. In our state they are talking about putting another tax on them for over a buck....that's way too much money to waste on a bad habit!

Good for you! Here is something that helped a friend of mine quit and will reinforce your resolve:
http://www.jazzbooks.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=JAJAZZ&Product_Code=QE&Category_Code=#.USzQQjexuVF
NOT A REFERRAL LINK!!
You'll see that you can download it for free despite the price that is listed. I read this ebook once and it made a lot of sense. When I'm ready to quit I will use it.

I know you can do it.....Get a bag of sun flower seeds. Thats how my dad quit. When he wanted a cig. he grapped a few seeds and sucked on them. Good luck to you. Keep it up...

That is the best decision you have made.
I hope you can successfully kick off that bad habit. Smoking is not good in whatever sense. It is not good for you and the people around you so when you stop smoking, you are not only doing yourself a favor but even those non-smokers around you.
Smoking is the hardest vice to kick but if there are others who made it then why can't you? If there's a will there's a way...so, go and live a smoke free life now and forever.
