Chitika Payment

I am near to my first payment in chitika. Today i got this following message from them.
Thanks again for being a valued Chitika Publisher! We are reaching out to you today about your monthly Chitika payment. In order to get paid, you will need to submit your W-9 or W-8 form as soon as possible (per US IRS requirements).
Your account, currently has a balance of $9.89 as of January 31st, 2013. In preparation for your payment, please be sure you have submitted one of the following:
W-9 Form (if based in the U.S.)
W-8 Form (if based outside the U.S.)
Forms must be submitted by 10am US EST on February 28th, 2013, in order to guarantee payment in this cycle. Any balance associated to an account without a valid W-9 or W-8 will be held in your account until the next payment period or until the legal forms have been received.
I am from India, i know some of my Indian friends got payment from chitika. I just want to know what is w-8 form? Are you filled this form before getting your payment from chitika?

About mail, Even I have got the same. I tried to open my chitika account but was seeing the message that right now they are upgrading something. So didn't able to login.
I guess it should be some normal form which confirms the site that we are out of US or something. May be general thing. But still haven't checked it yet.

WEll , they pay at the end of the month.. So you may have to wait maximum 30 days.. In my case, both times I reached to 10$ around at the end of the month and got the payment soon..
About filling the form, I guess I have never filled something like this on chitika site. But don't worry this is normal thing. I have seen such form on many sites. This is just a normal thing.

Anand, i know you got some payments from this site. Do you ever filled this kind of form previously? just now i filled the form and sent it. Thanks for your wishes, hope i will get my money soon. How many days they will take to pay us?

I've filled up W-8 Tax form for other website. It is very easy to filled up. If you check carefully there is no complications. It asked about your name, address etc. There are 3 parts and 1st part is very easy but important and you can fill up without any difficulty. Leave it blank which is not applicable. Don't forget to tick 3rd part and also your signature is important before submitting. If they are providing online form then you've to sign with the help of mouse otherwise if they asked to download and submit then also it is good for you. Every site has different process to submit W-8 tax form. You asked about filling up of form so I answered here. I'm not a part of chitika so submission process is not known by me.

You said that you have filled the W-8 form. That means you reside outside the US. So, do you also belong to India like me? Can you please share your thoughts? After how many days did you get paid? Did you find any difficulty after you submitted the form? Please help all of us here.

Hi friend, good to know that you already filled that form. I don't checked any option in the third part, as i don't know about it, so i left it blank. They just mentioned to type our name in the signature area, so there is no problem with it

Hi VP,
Congrats first of all. It was just a matter of half an hour or so, or I would have started this discussion. I too got the similar mail from Chitika. I am also in the process of filling the form - the W-8.
I just want someone here to answer this before I submit the info there. We are to mark some checkboxes. I don't know really which ones to check. I just want to confirm.

Well, I guess, it is only for the first timers who are getting paid that they have to fill the form. Or is it everytime? I think it might be only for the first time that is why they are asking us to fill the form. That means I am getting paid for the first time. By the way, you too might be getting paid for the first time.
And yes, I too didn't check any of the boxes. What did you write below the box where you typed your name as a signature? I didn't know what to write there.

I just typed my full name in the signature box and submit the form. I need around 15 cents to get the payment, hope i will earn it by this month, let wait and see

I don't know how many cents I am away to reach the payout (and I won't go open and check now as I am really tired and not in the mood too
). But I guess, as they have asked us to fill the forms, it means we might be in the queue to get paid. So, I guess, it should't matter how far we are from the payout. Let's assume we are getting paid.

Hi there,
I think Chitika is updating the Tax form of all their publisher. I am not sure if it is a yearly thing but I am using Chitika for two years and I have also received the same email as you. All you have to do is fill up the w-8 (foreign/outside US) which was sent to us through email and it will direct you to your chitika account.

yes, my traffic is not bad, but unfortunately most of my traffic comes from asia, especially indonesia. chitika only count traffic from us/ca/europe

Prakash, I have already received two payments from Chitika in the past without having to go through any of this.However, now I too have received this communication from them since I too am nearing payout for the third time and have to fill in the required details.I guess this is some new requirement ! all the best !

same with you, vidhya. I also get email information from chitika about filling W-8, but in my case, I'm stil away from the payout. after the email, I try to googling about what is W-8 and how to fill the form. may be W-8 is like tax form statement for people outside US. I had finished fill the form, but when I login to chitika, there's nothing change, means no confirmation for the notification before.

Sounds like a real deal. W8 is a tax form. Is it safe to submit such information in the site? Has anyone of you able to the following as I became curious about this site.
1. How many site visit or how many views do you people need to reach the pay out? So pay out is $10 right?
2. Do they really pay? Do they have direct link to Blogger site? My blog was only hosted in in Blogger.
