I would be so happy if I could sew, and make my own clothes... things that would fit, and were made just for me... out of material that I like. When they taught us how to sew in home-ec at school, I always broke the sewing machine and got the thread all tangled up and the material jammed in the machine. By the time we got everything fixed, the class was always over, so I never got to make anything. I even took a sewing class as an adult, but the teacher did everything for me, so I didn't actually learn how to do it myself. Maybe someday I'll try it again.

I hink that would be cool, to wear your own creation and make clothes that you know nobody else is bound to have anywhere else. It is also so economical. Alas, I also don't have the talent for sewing. All the crafts that I can do is cross stitching. I even like to learn how to crochet, but my hands just won't cooperate sometimes. So yeah, like you I will be needing lots of practice.

I used to cross stitch when I was younger. But it's so time consuming. And I always counted wrong and had to undo it. I hated that.

I am taking sewing classes and so far I have learned how to make a clutch purse and this week I am learning how to make a totebag. This week I am also taking a quilting classes which I am looking forward to. Now that I am done with my classes for my Master's Degree I can take classes in things that are fun. I take sewing classes at a craft store called JoAnns and the quilting class called Quiltique. I will also be taking jewelry making at the end of this month. It is my hope that after this month I can make enough earrings and bracelets so I can sell them online in hopes to buy enough fabric to make other items I want to make such as a few pillows and more purses. If you to ehow and type in sewing there should be some tutorials and buy some patterns called simplicity (they are easy to follow).

I wish I could sew too. I can design clothes in my head but can not get them down on paper, or much less sew. I can put buttons on that is about it.

Keep trying. My grade nine sewing teacher probably would have told you I was the least likely person to sew another stitch. Now I sew everything, including elaborate bridal gowns.

I too love knitting and sewing. I always wanted to learn sewing and knitting. Though we learnt knitting in my school times, but it was hard to learn sewing for me. I really want to stitch my own dresses. I would love to do that.

I started out with hand sewing. I love to sew, but when I need therapy I hand sew. When we lost our little daughter I hand sewed an entire twin size quilt it was the only thing that I could get lost in and just not think about our angel. Anyway, I wouldn't give up. See if there is a vocational school near you with a fashion arts or apparel arts adult class. These will help you learn not only the machine (important) but the cuts, stitches and symbols that accompany a pattern for clothing.

You can always learn new things if you are keen on learning it. Instead of books, go to someone who has experience in sewing and a familiar person to you who would teach you patiently.

I think you did not like to learn it as maybe you are not that much interested in sewing. if you are interested in that from deep of your heart and that is your wish then you can do it much better than others. so listen to your heart, do you really wish for that or just that is something which is not come from deep of your desire? if that is not your deep desire then do not waste your time for that and see what you really like and wish to learn.

I would love it and it would save me money. Using that sewing machine would save me money on clothes and blankets, socks, etc. I can use a needle, but the machine? NOT! lol I read on yahoo how this husband and wife live on 14, 000 a year. By doing this, they created a budget. IN that budget she said that she makes her kids clothes and also makes laundry detergent (getting off the subject) but yeah... Im with you on this!! I would also like to croche!! -NIKKI-
