Good salaries abroad

Philippines

I am a Licensed engineer. I am planning like everyone else to work abroad because it offers greater rates. Here I am staying and gaining more experience before going to apply for abroad. Which country would you suggest that I would go to? Why?

Yeah. I hear you. But you got to be practical. Make the most of the opportunity and chance.

Better for you because you have your own business to give you income. Good Luck.

Same thing happens here in Mexico. Everyone wants to go to the usa and make more money. But remember those places also cost more to live as well. Good luck to you there.

Yeah. My parents really want me to go abroad since there is more money there. But I already thought of it that cost of living will also increase. Salary and cost of living is proportional so maybe it is not a good idea. But if you save as much when working abroad, when you go back to your country you will have more money.

Financial support is what is not enough. I am still working here to save some more money for a trip to where I want to go abroad.

I live in England and the winter weather can be way too cold in the winter time. The cost of living is high and most people feel like the expenses go up even more. It is busy with people and feels quite crowded. I would say if you can get a 4 year work visa Australia would be a wonderful place to live. It has lovely weather, happy people and wages seem fairly high there. There is a great outdoors sort of joy there. I was so happy when I was traveling there. It would be an excellent place to live and work. Good luck deciding where to go to work.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have you worked there?

In that case I would preferNew Zealand much better. The people there are much friendlier and the nature is awesome. I've been to both countries and can tell that the attitude from Australians isn't always the nicest.

Thanks for sharing information franseman. I also have a friend working in New Zealand, she is enjoying there.

Well, I suggest you to go to Japan or US depending on what kind of Engineer, you are? If you are a civil engineer, I think better to be here and have project of your own. Because you can manage to make money if that the basis you want to go abroad.

Better to work here, friend. But if your an Electrical Engineer, some says that Nigeria, is a best location to go because of good salaries. You may apply also in shipping company and be an Engineer of the Ship.
• Philippines

Really? In Nigeria? I think also the cost of living there is cheaper? I don't know.

My sister in law's husband tried working in Dubai for three years. Then he decided to transfer to Qatar as there was a bigger opportunity there. And from what I have heard, Qatar has a lot of buildings being constructed now. Maybe that should be your destination. He has been working there for 5 years now.

Hi jvincent! Yes you can try going in other country to work because the salary that you can get there is better than some companies in our place. I am sure you are prepared to do that. I wish you good luck. The only country that I know for engineers is Saudi but I don't know about other countries. Well, personally, I don't have a plan of going out of the country unless I would be going there for a vacation with my family. I cannot stand it to be separated from my family. I am happy with my work now and I am just trying to find other source of income online for additional income. Have a great day!
• Philippines
2 Mar 13
Yeah. I think we have the same thought. I know it would be hard for me to go abroad because of my family. I know it is possible that I would choose to go out of country but it's better to work here and have a great salary than go there for a higher salary. Now, I am just finding other source of income.

Hello, I am glad you have a good education and are gaining lots of experience right now. As far as working abroad goes you have to consider very carefully which country to apply to. I live in Canada and I know for a fact that foreign degrees are not recognized as such. Most people have to do upgrade courses. Here we have many people from other countries doing jobs way below their qualifications because they come here and find out they cannot get jobs in their fields without upgrades and Canadian experience. It is vicious circle. How can you get this experience if no one hires you. My cousin married a girl from another country. She had papers as a chemical engineer from her country. Here she worked as quality assurance checker in a factory (not as an engineer). Very unhappy. She lost the job when the place closed. Now she stays at home and does not work outside the home. This is very unusual for Canadian women, almost all work outside the home especially if there are no babies in the house. This unusual decision on her part causes great unhappiness in the family since for the most part both husband and wife contribute financially to the household as living expenses are fairly high. To get back to you: research all the countries you are interested in. Check out immigration requirements, language requirements, employment opportunities, recoognition of your qualifications and settlement aides. The embassies and websites of embassies are good sources. Good luck.

Yeah. I am aware that it is not that easy to get into a job overseas. Some degrees that you have may not be enough to land a job that you want. Thank you for also reminding me of the requirements needed, I know there is a lot.

hi vincent. congratulations on your license making it as an engineer. How long have you been with a company right now? i really think that you have to do research on that as it is different for different line of work. say for IT or information technology people, Singapore is a good place to go, and so on.
• Philippines
2 Mar 13
Yeah. I am in the field in IT but I am hybrid. Currently in my job, I do network and voice system jobs. I would say basically I am an all-around guy. Yeah. Singapore is a good place to go.

I would check to see where they are planning alot of building. Doing some research and checking some message boards and such may put you in a direction you hadn't even thought of before. Could be fun and give you something to do.

Prepare yourself to the fullest. Prepare for difference in culture, behavior, food, weather and others. Also be prepared not to be home sick. Australia will be good choice. My friends and sister stay there for some years and they are happy..

Yeah. Thanks for commenting. The good thing is that there are Filipino communities in different countries. Even if I feel home sick, I have company of other people. My circle of friends will also expand and that is exciting.

I guess you should try Middle East. I heard that they pay well when it comes to professionals like engineers. My father is a construction worker there and he had received a lot of appreciation because of his excellence and his skills and his dedication to his work. (not bragging anyway). He said if he'll just an engineer, maybe he earns a lot and he can enjoy his financial freedom because of the compensation he'll get from his profession.

i live in china and want to work abroad too. the reason for going abroad is not just good salaries in Australia or usa but also the clean living environment attracts me. you know, in developing country, there exists a serious pollution with economics flying. it is really a shame for chinese goverment to not stop it.

i would suggest middle east or south east asia..hehehehhe but i'd suggest that if possible work for your own country first before going to other nations and work there....
• Philippines
2 Mar 13
Yeah. Now I am working in my own country. If opportunity and chance comes then I would grab it. If I would work overseas, I would consider maybe only middle east and asia because beyond that would be very far.

A lot of people from Jamaica also go to London / America for work . The minimum wage in those countries are far better than we have here but our cost of living is really low with comparison to those countries . So if you work and save all your money in your home country then you will have a lot to go home back to but if you want to live in those countries you will just be a poor person fighting with bills lol .. In your case though you will get a good paying job as a Engineer , do you have job agent in your country ? that is how most people I know do it .

It's good to see that that you're happy and I don't wanna spoil that feeling. But PLEASE consider also the following: I left the Netherlands to live in the Philippines. Because First world countries are in big trouble. Not only because of the bad economics. No because the people there are spoiled brats. And that shows in their behaviour. Foreigners are not really welcome anymore because the locals fear they're going to lose their jobs. Because foreigners get less payed. Also you might earn more money there but don't forget that the way of living is much higher. People in First world countries already struggle to survive. Asia is becoming the leading continent and within 20 years the Philippines will be the 18th best economy in the world! Letme give you an example of what I noticed here. We have a large street with pottery right around the corner. All stuff stays outside day and night and NOBODY steals anything. Now try THAT in a First world country! If it won't get stolen it will defenitely be molistated. 100% guaranteed!

Thanks for sharing. In the country that I live in is part of Asia, and I am aware that it's economy is doing well. It is growing and I hope it will continue that way.
