Just thinking reading some discu ssions and responding that one of the greater aspects of my lot is that we can talk about how We are doing in breaking a bad habit whether its smoking or over eating or losing weight. I think its sort of a pat on the back and I know I have been encouraged when I came here ranting about something. I got so many positive feedback's that I felt encouraged and went on to break some bad habits too.Do you see my lot that way too fellow my lotters?

I have never thought of mylot that way, but I suppose it could help. I don't have any bad habits except to biting my nails. I haven't seen a discussion on that one yet. Anyway, just being here, bad habits or not, I have fun and have learned so much that it far outweighs and earnings I have made or will make in here. Hurray for mylot. Take care hatley, and have a very good day.

hirosekiss I had not either til I read several discussions about quitting smoking and how our esponsea had helped them to keep on quitting smoking,Then I realized that yes mylot does have a way of giving us positive feed back from its users. I love my lot for all its complexities not just the earnings part. I also love that I can make friends from all over the world. take care happy mylotting.

Hehehe...friend rose your bad habit is only one biting nails but my bad habit is more like fast talking, fast walking, fast driving, fast eating and loud voice etc. Grand ma I think few bad habits cant leave because the person feel uneasy if they want to leave bad habit like if the person is habitual for smoking or drinking and suddenly leave this then their body problem may start. Miss U I am joining my lot 25 days after.

hi surekharathi oh my but some of those do not sound so bad to me yes smoking and drinking are really addictions that are hard for people to break and sometimes they have to have medical help.I think mylot does help us in a lot of way.

Okay... Let me try this again, since the first response did not post... I haven't approached myLot in this way, but I know that many other people do use this as a support in breaking a bad habit. I wish that I could say that I don't have any bad habits, but I cannot honestly say that. Of course, I have bad habits--some of them worse than others. However, I am working on them--especially my tendency to not be able to unplug from the electronics.

Hi Hatley dear! Although I'm not on here as much as I used to be and would like to be, I still enjoy mylot for the most part and it's mainly because of the friends I made here. Life has been such a pickle at times for me and coming on here to vent or get advice or even a little encouragement when I so needed it has been a big blessing in my life and for that reason, I don't think I'll ever be done with mylot! I just can't wait to get my life back again so I can contribute something more often than I do these days. Hope you're doing good! HUGS!

I have to say that I enjoy learning from people around the world on how their country is doing, their unique cultures, customs, views and opinions. Sharing of knowledge is very good and I feel that most of them are quite genuine about helping others.

I think it's great to have a group of positive minded people around to offer support. I don't think myLot is the ideal place for me personally to get support of this nature though, because so many responses are from people who are just writing a few lines to make an extra couple of cents. I find it helpful when I have a dilemma about whether my feelings are justified about something or not though. When it comes to bad habits, it's not myLot I need but someone parked on my couch, shouting at me to do better!

hi GreenMoo Yes it is and I think a lot of us really are very helpful to others here. Of course it depends on the issues and whether or not all of give ccorrect information. so we agree to disagree which makes it a good discussion as we are both being respectful to each other.

jo greemoo yes it really would .I do love it when someone does disagree with me with respect. I did learn from one such response and changed my way of doing something and found it was really better than my old way lol. so I am never too lold to learn something new. the old saying : you can't teach an old dog new tricks" is just a bunch of baloney when it comes to people. I am so fortunate that I have n ever becoe senile. My roomie's sister tells me she is so glad I am Kathy's roommate as I can help her as I am not senile. I owe keeping my mind sharp by reading, playing mind games, doing all sorts of puzzles and stil lhaving a good IQ ofa 140

Agreeing to disagree makes for interesting conversation, as you say. If we all agreed about everything, life would be pretty dull!

In a way yes. You take all the frustration out and apart from that, you get advices and opinions from people. It can help you deal with situations and break some old habits as it encourages you and builds your self confidence. Yes in a way Mylot is a platform for this.

I hadn't spent a lot of time here until lately and I am happy that I have been. I have seen some wonderful and helpful comments from the wonderful people on MyLot. We all need to vent or cry at times and I have found that right here is a great place to do it. I am so happy with all the people who has sent prayers and well wishes for my daughter-in-law and the family. My heart is so warm and filled with love for everyone. I will be here more. Today is doctor day for me so I will be off for awhile. Have a sun, shiny day.

hi velvet yes this is a great place to come and vent or rant and get help and comfort from all you many loving people here.I have sent more prayers for your daughter in law too and hpe she will soon recover with no bad side effects.Falls and skull fractures are always serious too.when I fell two years ago I went face down ob polished tile where someone had spilled coffee and so my poor head was saved but my nose was fractured and my cheekbones plus my knee was badly twisted no broken bones but the knee healing took 20 days and was really pretty painful.

okay try again. Once in awhile my right knee hurts but its most like ju t plain old arthritis that I have had for a long time now. It does not last too long . I take my medication for Arthritis and its over. I realized myself that prayer power here in mylot is really powerful.I have sent so many prayers for people here and they were answered too.

Did you really mean losing weight? I fear that where losing weight is a bad habit, it's going to take more than myLot to break it. I wish anorexia nervosa were that easily curable.

One would think any sensible myLotter would understand what Auntie H meant, but you know the old saying, "There's always one!" Most definitely, people here on myLot are very supportive and give people advice! Hatley, you are one of those people that I can count on to give your opinion! Some times it's better to share with people here that have an outsider's point of view. People here are willing to tell their experiences with different things than people who are close to you, because the people that are close to ypu may only tell you what they think you want to hear.

hi stutjodee yes I find them to really be supportive and compassionate too. thank you for the kind words. yes our family members sometimes do not really tell all the truth and just tell ys what theytfeel we would like to hear. I am reminded of little Hattie when I worked as a nurses aide years back.Hattie lived in our boarding house and worked in the hospital's kitchen. She w as diagnosed with cancer and it had spread through out her body but the doctor did not tell he she only had weeks to live.??she finally asked us nurses aids and nurses for the truth. Dottie and I did softly and gently tell her what she already was sure of so she could settle her affairs. It felt so hard but she really knew she was dying so we did tell her the truth.Nt eery one will do that either.

Now that you point it out, I also didn't notice. I guess it helps a lot that here, we get to have pure, unbiased opinions because whatever situation or dilemma or resolutions posted here for discussion, we all speak and relate to the situation itself and not to the people involved since we don't really know most of the people here personally.

Yes, many times I have come here feeling down and complaining about things in life, especially when it comes to my Health or my job, etc. The cool thing about this site continues to be all the different thoughts and opinions and ideas and how everyone is always trying to help everyone else. Many times this is what helps me get thru my day especially when everything seems to be at the worst.

I do see Mylot the way you explained here. I had to quit my weekly counseling session due to financial restraints and I sure have paid the penalty for it. Stress gets me something terrific and if it gets too bad I have panic attacks. It helps me so much to post an occasional rant here. And I know I will get some caring responses. I have some very good friends here and appreciate them very much. You should get a pat on the back for being one of them too!

thanks so much celticEage You know when I had those panic attacks I sometimes felt like I would pass out as I could not seem to breathe. I am so glad I got help from this woman psychologist .she taught me how not to have panic attacks. And when I was forced to come here as I was homeless I had one dusy of a panic attack and Johh the agent from Adult protective services helped me by going with me to the entrance talk withe the admins and suddenly my breathing was okay and I had snapped out of it. And when my son got my computer and monitor out of storage I got on cable and never have had another panic attack.Mylot has really helped me too and just before I came here I got shingles that summer and the only thing hat helped beside my medication was being on mylot. I just did not feel the stinging burning pain when engrossed in someone else;'s problems at all.

It is great that you had this help. I have learned on my own and can usually keep myself from having them. But sometimes if I am already overly stressed they come on and I just don't have the will or the energy or whatever to do what I need to to get them to go away. Mylot is helpful isn't it. Others problems and knowing I can get some good responses is helpful. I hope it is around for another thirty years cause I plan to be. Haha

Yes, when I was so ill last year and couldn't get on Mylot much, I was mazed by the outpouring of affection and encourafgement from some mylotters. During the dark, pain-filled days - it really comforted me and helped me. We are like a big family and sometimes have our little rants or tell of our probems or success; of us or a family member and everyone is always kind and supportive. I have been here over five years and have made such good friends. For example YOU

hi jenny yes it so good to tell others so they can see mylot is not just a place to earn, but also to get or give help and to do it from our hearts not for money or anything else. WE can feel at home here as nobody is going to fight with us or make fun of us like in some sites that have no admins at all. I was on a diabetes forum and wanted to share with others but we all had this weird doctor who kept making cruel remarks like we were all punished by God so He gave us diabetes. I got so I just could not stand him and left the site.Others also left as he w as always on their cases.

Me, i will always come here Hatley. So, when you are down and needs some friends to comfort you, you can always come here to cheer you up. There's no old and young here. We are all of the same age here. Though, i think the idea and experience of the old ones can really surface as the richest.
