What would you do if you get lost in a country where you cannot speak their language and at a very awkward time? My experience.. I have got lost one day in Taiwan at 2a.m. Not knowing how to speak chinese. It was my worst moment. I had no phone with me at that time. it just broke 2days ago and there were no one around.., That was terrible... Fortunately. we say that Taiwan is a quite safe place to be in.

Hey, It is not just who has come across situations like these. I do have some experiences like these. Beacuse of rapid urbanization as one cannot get opportunities at home places I also used to stay away from my home town. When ever I am there for the first time during initial days it will be tough to manage with them as people do not even respond to our queries as we do not know their language. I want to end by giving one specific example of my case. Once I was waiting for bus at a busstop. As I am new to the place I donot know which bus to get in. Conductors in the bus are not responding to me as I do not know their language. And they are not even listening to me as I do not know their language. It went on for some time and finally got a bus with the help to a person and it did not end there. At the time of getting down the bus, the conductor behaved in the same way finally I got down at a place way far from where I should have got down.

I got lost in Greece a couple of years ago. I knew that my hotel was very close to the train station and I thought that it would be easy to find it. I was wrong! I had a map, but I was unable to read the names of the street sign because they were only written in Greek. I can't read Greek so I couldn't use the map. I tried to ask several people for directions, but they didn't speak English and they didn't understan my question. I wish that I had been able to ask for directions in Greek, but I don't speak Greek at all. I walked around for a long time. I didn't know where I was, and I started to get quite worried because I couldn't use the map and I couldn't talk to the locals and I didn't know how to find my hotel. I decided to ask a taxi driver to take me to my hotel. The first ones didn't understand English and they didn't understand where I wanted to go. Then I finally found a taxi driver who spoke English and he drove me to my hotel.

I did quite well in Taiwan without a mobile phone a number of years ago. Usually around airports, hotels, restaurants, etc you're more likely to run into those who can speak English well. Most people there by now would know some words in English, but would rather not stick their neck out, so to speak. The main difficulty for me was telling taxi drivers where to go. Taxis are (were) quite cheap in Taiwan.

Haha, you are so lucky you just get lost in Taiwan,at least Taiwan is a developed and modern district so that you can get the help very easily, but if you unfortunately get lost in some Africa countries then that will be a really tough situation.

Panic would be an understatement... but wouldn't it be exciting also to get into an adventure? Yes, good thing Taiwan is quite a safe place, like Singapore. :)

This will be terrible for me because I am the one who can be easily get lost even just in my own city. I think in such a case I will try to find the police at first. They are professional people and they can help me for sure.

Well my story is a little different. I was not lost but I couldn't find my hubby. So I guess he was lost. I had just moved to Puerto Rico and I also don't speak spanish. I didn't have a phone with me either. I was walking around the mall in circles looking for him. I then decided to go to the car. The car was still there but he was not. I then had to ask a lady in the parking lot if I could use her phone to call him because I couldn't find him. She agreed after a few minutes when she finally understood what I was saying. That was so scary for me. Now I don't leave his side when we are shopping at the mall.
