Hi everyone! =) I'd say its really great that i have sold my phone now to my brother. he he I have a samsung android phone and it was the first generation android, i guess - GTI5503 model. It is currently in the market for about $100, but I sold mine to my brother about $70 and its second hand - i used it already for 2 years. My brother asked if he can pay it in installment and i said yes, so he would be paying me $25 each month until its done and its fine with me. hehe At least someone is going to use the phone now and I got rid of it anyhow. Remember I already bought myself a Samsung galaxy SIII phone already and this one is just collecting dust. =) I attached a photo of the previous phone I had, well it is in the same condition as it was new, i had my phone covered and had it with a screen protector too so my brother knew that the phone was not defective when he got it. =)

I don't sell my old phones because I don't change phones unless it is broken and beyond repair.I don't know it was just my habit already.

hehe well that is understandable, we almost always are attached to the things we are with all the time, and it will take time for us to let go. ;) thank you johndur for your response. have a great day.

hi johndur! wow that was something, i mean it is rare that someone would be like you hehe i mean most would change phones as if it was a fashion item... others would really always want to have the latest phone but you really maximize the use of your phone. that is being wise and thrifty. Good that you do not feel the need for a new phone when there are new ones coming out.

Hello Well, you surely got good deal. I mean you have already used your phone for 2 years and still you got 70% of new phone cost. So it is really great deal for you. That installment is little trouble, but its okay as you are getting good deal. Good point for you is that you have already another phone (good one) so that you don't have to purchase the new phone instantly, so installment will be not problem for you.

Hi akp! thank you so much, yes i think i did get a good deal, new phones of the same model is selling for about 5900 or less(take a hundred or two less). But my brother is almost buying a new one too because i cared for that phone and there was no single scratch in it. ;) he thinks so too and told me its good that my phone looked new. and that he is getting it for installment of three months. I have also tried to barter, or to trade in my phone before and yeah it sure is a good way to get rid of the phone and "selling" it in a way. ;)

About selling phone, well, I have sold many phones in the past. But I have never sold them because I have another one. I have sold them to purchase new one by adding few more money in to that amount. That's it. ;)

Sell the old phone can help save money, but as I always store a lot of private information in my phone, I am afraid my information will be abused by other people, so in most cases, I will keep the old one with me and never give it or sell it to unfamiliar people. Usually I will give the old phone to my mother, my mother will use it and I do not need to worry about privacy problem.

hi there! your nick sounds like the nick of my friend at work. hehe his name was daniel and most call him dandan. :D Well after i thought of giving the phone to my brother(rather sell it) i have reset the phone so it was good as new (process and software wise.) But yes, that is correct, keeping the phone within sure saves us some worry about what information was retained, etc.

Hi chiyosan,I have never sold my cell phone even when it became old,I still have 3 instruments with me and when someone in the family wants one because of an emergency like having lost their cell phone or given it for repairs , they borrow one of mine and t=return it once they get theirs back.It is also used by my children when they visit India and need a different number which works out much cheaper.. all the best and enjoy your day

Well, that was good. And i hope you are enjoying your new Samsung Galaxy S3.It is great phone.I am using currently the Samsung Galaxy S and is finding it great apart from the battery. And i think your brother also would have been happy with the fact, he got things from you and can trust the things.Plus he got things at a cheaper rate and there were screen protector and things.Good for him.Well,i did sell one of my handsets to my friend. It was first handset i bought after getting a job.It was Nokia 3230.It was not great and plus highly overvalued for things.I used for 2 years with several downs and finally sold it to my friend for 1/3 of its original price. It was tough living with that phone but then since it was my first phone after a job, kept it with me.I bought another Nokia phone which was much better and great in performance. And i was happy with it.All these happened 7 years ago and that was a wonderful time. And well there was no android phones at that point of time and it was all Nokia dominated phone industry.Apart from that i have not sold any of my phones as most of them were bought by my dad.I keep all of them in loving memory of his as he is no more. Thanks!

Hi there Thank you so much for your response. It was so much easier b before to sell phones and I yes b it was nokia that dominated the cellular industry b before. I think their refusal to be on Android has set them back a bit in the race. I would really love v to have a phone b that is given by my mom though hehe I think she have me a total of two phones and the rest I bought them on my own already and so I do sell them if needed or trade them as well.

hi there kats! =) there are like that, and i remember that there was such a promo before here, where in you can trade in your phone(including the sim card) from other telco companies and the company would exchange it with a new one but you are with a contract for at least 2 years.

Lucky brother! I have not sold any of my phones except for the very first phone I had which was a Nokia 6110. (Eeeww!). Then I bought the much loved 3310! hahaha (am I that old). But the succeeding phones I had, well, it was either I gave it away or just kept inside a drawer. Now I am actually using 2 phones. The one I used most is the SII coz it has a wider screen which is perfect for more poor eyes.

Oh that is not too old of you haha. My first phone was 5210!! Hehe and then I had a new one. And a new one and now I am a Samsung lover. And it's been four samsung phones ever since and now it's my fifth! :) hehe I guess it was me that I love what's new and what's coming up. Hehe takes me two years though for each phone I owned.

Hi, I like very simple mobile phone without having complex functions. I have purchased many years before Nokia N-70. But I gave it to my wife and I purchased simple phone only having FM. But I don't use it. I use it only for receiving calls and making calls. My son has changed his mobile many times. Two of them are working and are kept in our house. two of them we gave to my wife's students free. Because they are ready to help us any time. He sold only one cell phone in the store and purchased Samsung Galaxy SII phone and now he don't want to change it.

hi roshigo, that is so nice of your wife to give away the phones to her students. I couldn't agree more with your son about the samsung phone, S2 is really a good phone too, mine is just S3 and it does not differ much with your phone, :D

Haha very nice one chiyosan. Its been there for 2 years and you still manage to sold it at that price. Considering the length of time you are utilizing that phone and the amount of money you managed to gain from selling it, I think its really a good deal!

Hi kenshin! =) nice to see you again here in mylot. hehe Yep it was a good deal, and i was thinking of it where i can sell it, i know he has an iphone so it was surprising that he got it and agreed to the deal. of course since he is my brother, i agreed already to sell it to him and for him to pay in installment because it is the same anyway when i would not be using it. so its best to expect $25 for 3 months and that is some money too. its like a whole month worth of mylotting! hehe I can relax in here for a while trying to pay my bills. hahaha :D happy mylotting. ;)

hi gara, i think that is nice when we can just keep the phone for sentimental value, but i guess i did need the money so i thought i can really use it for something else instead of the phone sitting collecting dust. =) thank you for your response to the discussion. have a great day!

hehe yeah, usually when the phones have been maximized when used by the first user, it only takes a few years, usually 5 years at most and it should already be replaced. Technology does come quicker than it used to. =P

hi there patnopy! its good that you are giving your phones to them and that i think its also what most of us here would do as well. i have had a few phones given to my younger brother and mom and i do not know where these phones were put to already. =) Sometimes I just do not see the need to keep so much phones that we won't use anyway. =)

hehe that is okay. sometimes i would ask my mom too, where was the phone i gave her when i notice its not around anymore.. then she too would not remember to whom she gave it to, mom just is like that and she loves to give away stuffs. one day i came home and my mom said pack the clothes you are not wearing i already talk to this, and that and they will pick up your clothes, better to have someone use them unlike you, you are just letting them rot in the drawer. :D

No, because for me and my siblings, we just pass it on to each other or to our parents. Or sometimes the reason to change mobile phones is when it needs changing instead of repairing :)

I see that you have indeed maximized usage of your phones. I think I only had one phone that I had to throw away because the battery does not work anymore and the phone is no longer turning on.

Since the old cellphones are not worthy so much. Here people often change their cellphones, especially the youngs. And therefore you can't expect that your old cellphone can be sold with a nice price. This is why I prefer to keep it at home. If one day my current cellphone doesn't work, at least I have a backup cellphone that I can use for a while.
@chiyosan (30184)

You have a point in here, old phones can be used as back ups once your current phone gives up and suddenly won't open. At least you won't have so much days to worry that you cannot be contacted. hehe thank you youless for your response. have a great day!

that is really nice of you chiyosan. it is good that you sold your phone to your brother without much of a mark-up. actually, there really isn't one and in fact you sold it at a lower price. anyway, i'm sure that is fine since you've used the phone for two years already. i'm sure your brother appreciated the gesture. personally, i haven't sold any of my previous phones. i usually lost the phones or break these! lol! i'm the one that usually buys the old phones of my parents or siblings. such is the curse that i'm burdened with. lol! anyway, it'll be nice to sell a used but still in good condition phone. at least you get something back from the phone that you've used before. cheers chiyosan!!!

Oh you are like this brother of mine. he is never careful with his things, his iphone 3 which is only a year old looked like a grandfather nearing its 80th birthday(in a technical pov) hehe so that is why i always tell him to care for his things, it was an iphone for heaven's sake and he is not using them or caring them properly so its no value already! haha no one would even buy his phone for a couple of bucks. I just want him to use and have another phone, his office gave him a line but no phone but he is not willing to give up his private number so he has to have two phones and at least he got an iphone for the price of a regular phone. :) free screen protector! hahah

No, I have never sold my old phone aftrer buying a new one. I end up giving my old phone to my granddaughter who just uses it to watch netflix, an dplay games on it anyway. I just let her have it, and that is fine with me too. Most of the time, I just end up keeping the old pho0ne, instead of getting rid of it. I also have a galaxy s3, and it is the best phone I have ever had and used. it has lots of features and i enjoy using it alot. i even use it to post into mylot with it. Mobile phones are so great to have, and I would be lost without mine. take care, and have a great day.

Hi Rose, it is usually what happens. i just thought then that most of the phones i have are sold to my brother who then gives it to his daughters or even to his wife's sisters. i think its common to just get it from someone you know if they are willing to part with it for free. heheh i just had to sell it to my brother. he always gets his stuff free from me, like my micro sd card, a digital camera, my other music express phone, ha this time i let him pay. tough times call for desperate measures. hehehe

You are lucky enough to buy whatever you want. I have still my old cell phone because I do not have money to buy new one. My sister also got a new cell phone and I did not know where she got her money. Maybe from her work. Well, lucky those people who work outside from home because the money they received from employer is guaranteed unlike here on work online. Of course, they can buy whatever they want if the money is being received every month like what you did.

THat is a good deal that you had after two years of using that phone. My husband boguht Samsung Galaxy S3 too and he had sell it four months after using it. I am not satisfied with the sale because the price is almost half. Cell phone/gadgets drops price fast. Imagine he bought it for more than 30thousand pesos and we had sold it for only 17thousand. He seldoms use it even in text and it has no scratches. Would you believe that the S3 price now is only 17k?

That is the brand new? oh i did not know that, the last time i checked it was about 26K(in pesos) in most shops at the mall. that was really a low price that your husband has sold it. I wonder why he was not impressed enough with the phone that he did not use it that much... I sure hope that the S would not drop to 15k now, that would break my heart! haha i just got mine a month ago and i would be really sad.. of course i am half expecting this because S4 is now going to be released.

hi dorofee, i think that is normal for people to keep on buying a new one, the latest model. for me, i use my phone every 2 years. i am in contract with my provider and every two years, they have retention plan so i won't cancel my account, i will just need to get a new phone (free) and continue the contract.
