An idea for newbies

I missed doing it but newbies could perhaps do it. Maintain screen shots of all milestones, the date on which one joined, the date on which they reached 100, 200, and 500, their first star and progress thereafter. Is there anyone here who has done it already. What does it feel to go through your myLot story?

Wow! Great idea! I started just last night and so I would definitely document it. Thanks!

I hope you know how to take screen shot of the page that shows your milestone! You already need to post somewhere the date on which you joined and wait for the day you complete 100 when you can rate others, also you will get a star; when you reach 200 you will be able to use the myLot code which is here to your left and when you reach 500 you will be able to copy paste.I envy you that you can keep a record. I have missed the bus!

why only now you posted this discussion. That's a very nice way to keep track of your activities here. I wonder if there are others. Thank you for this very fun and informative comment.

I haven't done it yet hahahha like almost everyone here I always look at the star beside my name it's color plus the number inside the star .I was curious at that time and when there's nothing left to do I always make it a point to update my profile .

The star as you know fluctuations. Keeping a track perhaps would throw some light as to when that happens.

Oh no I have not documented my progress here in Mylot all I can remember was the feeling I had when I got my first best response and the time I reached my first 500 post coz it mean I can now enjoy the benefit of copy pasting as I really need it so bad. My internet connection is sometime bratty that it will just lost just before I could post my response so I had to compose again. Able to copy paste made my mylot experience better.

I know what you mean. Most of us have not done it but I am waiting for any myLotter who could have done it and their reaction to it. It would be wonderful to document it. After all we are spending a lot of time and knowing our history here is truly worth it.

I have not done it. The only thing I remember is that my first star was a 6. I had a look at the way back machine as Owlwings suggests it, and there is a snapshot taken a few days after I joined in February 2010 : I had only (25) and 3 friends, all inactive actually. I have a bit of nostalgia now.

Nostalgia indeed. It is such a beautiful experience with a bit of bitterness splashed here and there which is part of life I suppose. Atleast the newbies could think of doing it and they will not regret it.

I never thought to keep track of any of my milestones here. Some sites have badges for reaching certain milestones. That might be an interesting thing for Mylot to add to our profiles. They could give us a new tab on the page to showcase our badges and have little graphics that would be awarded for things like activity rating, number of discussions started or responded to, number of best responses earned and so on. I wonder if they would ever add something like that here. I'd love to see some changes and updates to the layout, too. It's been the same since I joined. I'd probably grumble a bit if they did change it because it'd take me a while to find my way around again but a little change does us all good at times. There's probably a really good reason they haven't done it yet, though...

myLot is already doing enough. This is in your hands if you are interested. You can also keep a log or take out screen shots of pages that may interest you. I wish I had done that. It would have given me some idea of how I progressed here, the various avatars I used and so on.

Well for me I don't monitor my points what I did I just open a discussion on topics I want learn more and participate to topics brought out by friends and other my lotters. It is almost more than a month since I first joined this site.

Although the guidelines don't want us to do milestones, it would be a nice thing to do.

Nope..NO "time in a bottle" for me...my GOLD is in the friendships I have enjoyed here, NOT my achievements. And if there were a myLot time capsule, I would just like to re-visit my original friends..the one's that encouraged me, to participate here...thru the good, the bad, the ugly! Some of those folks are lost to me..sadly.

I get your point. myLot is not an ordinary place perga. A lot is happening here and a story will emerge if a log is kept of whatever one is interested in.

. This is a very good idea and thanks so much for sharing. I too have missed the bus but at least there are others who won't. I wish to see the first who would do this. I wanna be part of history. I was excited when I reached the different levels y ou mentioned for I can do something already to make my participation here more enjoyable. Now, I am maintaining my star rating.

Now those who have missed the bus can only watch and see how others will log their activity. May be even a blog?

I have really not thought about it. But The first few weeks that I became active, I was always checking on that number beside my name, and really rarely noticed the star. But as far as I remember, when i started being active again on this site, I left it at 159. I was away for two years. And now it is more than 8000. I am just happy how far I have gone and still looking forward for more months and maybe years with this site.

Atleast newbies could keep a record of their progress even book marking their milestone topic/s or even when they had a flame war and so on. My life is pretty interesting here. But I do not know when I reached all those milestones including flame wars and milestone topics!

Wow i think you should be really passionate about mylot to be able to do something like that ahahaha. i dont think newbies get that passion at once when they join to be able to document the day they joined haha. Maybe if they were an old user who deactivated their account and made a new one, they would do it,

You have a point there Nurse... But now that I have alerted users here to let them know how exciting it would be to have a record of their milestones better sense will prevail

I envy you, guys, you who have been here at mylot a long time already. And I really wish..really hoping I could learn everything there is about mylot because I am at loss, wondering what the stars are for and other mylot terms that are unfamiliar yet to me. I will definitely find time learning but at this point, I can only study little by little. The one thing I learned first, actually a tip, is to continue commenting and posting whenever I have the chance.

You have scope to record all milestones that will belong to you as you go along. myLot is a site of activity, the more active you are the more milestones will fall on your lap. Keeping a record of your milestones even the various avatars you may be using, the firs best answer, the first war of words are all worth keeping a tab on.

Well, that's really a good idea. I never thought of that, though I always felt good when I reached a certain milestone in mylot here, when I reached 100, 500, 1000, etc. But, I just didn't think of taking the screenshots and saving them. Though we can't go back, we can still keep our journey in mylot from today onward, especially mylot is going to change soon, perhaps it's good for us to remember the current mylot look and feel today.

hi allknowing thats a great idea and of course I never did that as a newbie. I think that could be a really nice objective for newcomers and might spur them on to further accomplishments here on mylot I wish I had done that when I first came here as it would be fun to look back on it.great idea allknowing.

It is very simple. As and when you achieve something, you take a screen shot of that page and store it in a folder may be marked 'myLot millestones'?
