wash it or toss it

Hubby had been using the canola oil and didn't put the lid on well it got bumped and went all over the place. So instead of taking paper towel he wiped up the mess with kichen towels (which are mostly well used anyways) and then he chucks it down the laundry chute not even thinking about what it was landing on. So I ran downstairs pulled it off the laundry pile. The items in the pile came out ok I think as they only had minor spots. However, the one dish towel is loaded with oil still. Do I bother washing it or do I just toss it? I'd hate to wash it and it wreck other things if the oil transfers during washing.

Hi snuggles, I am sure by now you have solved your delimma. But what I would have done was toss them asap...but if they were something that you wanted to keep the towels, just soak them lestoil..its really good for oils, grass, crayons, and many other things..you will probably have to rinse before washing with other clothes...but it should work....

If it's a towel that I am not going to miss that much I will just toss it.

If it were me I would pitch it. If you want to wash it, wash it alone. I would worry about the oil transferring to any other clothes in the wash load. I hope it wasn't a new dish towel.

wash it with some other rags and see what happens. i am not sure if the oil would be taken out in the wash but i am sure it would be set in during the drying cycle in the dryer because the heat will set it.

If you like it and it's still useful, wash it. I would put it in some hot water in a pan or the sink and add some soap and some vinegar, which breaks up crap like oil really well. Then I'd wash it again the same way. After that it shouldn't have anything in it that can affect the other clothes. Paper towels?! Wow, those are pretty pricey. I rarely use them, I've had the same roll for at least 3 years. I use rags or, if I'm soaking up grease, newspaper.

She should actually wash and toss it together yea . If you have time you should wash it yourself instead of depending on washing machine . I can tell you if you have never clean your washing machine before , people says the germs contain in it is more dirty than those in the toilets.

That is kind of up to you. If you want to keep it, use some kind of grease cutting cleaner on it, like Dawn Dish detergent. Rinse the dish soap out as it will foam too much for your washer, then wash it in hot water. It might be cheaper to toss it.

Wash it separately, using dish soap.

Wash it is pretty worn out I would probably just toss it. If you do decide to wash it I would do it by itself. Add some dish soap and wash in the hottest water possible to get the oil out better.

I would probably have washed it. However i would have soaked it in Dawn in the kitchen over night first. and then done the laundry on a hot. Dawn is amazing. A couple months ago i got SILLY PUTTY out of one of the boys pants using WD-40 and then dawn to remove the wd-40 worked like a charm with no stains left behind at all. I'd have washed it alone or with stuff that didnt "matter" as much the first go around.

well if it is well used and past it use then I would say toss it but if it is new use tide and wash it alone as you would not want to ruin any thing elsw
