I heard on the news that it was International Woman's Day, but this is the first year that I have heard of it so I suspect that it is a new creation. As you rightly state, there should also be an International Man's Day,, especially in this day and age when women are constantly campaigning about equality.

some of my favourite people are 'blokes'
among my valued acquaintances are quite a numberof gentlemen
including you and rob
I don't understand despising a group for the errors of the individual
particularly when both groups have their problems
and groups in this case that cannot survive without each other
kind of cutting of one's nose to spite one's face

It has been around since the early 1900's
goodluck with your responses - seems that blokes are not that popular

After all the grief men give us women; they should be happy with what they get.
But there is an International Men's Day, and it is celebrated on November 19th, even though some of you guys don't really deserve it.

Men do put women through a lot of grief but I'm not saying that they all do it. Some are very sweet and actually deserving of some recognition by their woman or anyone else for that matter.
I just don't think the men that use and abuse women should be given any recognition; International Men'[s Day or not.

Well, Rob, all I can say is that you menfolk need to get a clue. My ex used to complain about things like this. Thing is, us women know how to get things done. We grouped together to form the women's rights movement and the womens crisis centers. It is likely that International Woman's day was created by a group of ...yep you got it...women. What do men do? hmmm...they sit around and whine about these things and do nothing to create them. With a lot of pushing from women who could see the other side of the issues, men finally began getting proactive in issues of child support and custody and are now able to win such cases. Prior to this, all you ever heard from the men was how women always got their way and the courts were in favor of women. You guys just do way too much whining. You want an International Men's day? You have to do what we did and get off your little behinds and form one, silly.

I believe you but you guys really do need to group together to fight for equal rights or even fair rights when it comes to divorce and custody issues and also domestic violence issues. I am a woman and the unfairness of these issues disgusts me. Men complain a lot but most do nothing to make a difference for themselves. I will say that I have been seeing more men fight for their rights and actually win in these cases.

Oh I very much agree with you on that one. How many teachers have had their careers destroyed by false allegations but because their names are revealed, it matters not if the charges are dropped. Their name is forever ruined. Even IF they are found not guilty, it is usually a little blurb in the middle of tbe paper as opposed to the original story which is usually front page news. I used to push for women's rights but I find that we are actually pretty strong and capable and our voices are loud enough without my help. What Im seeing is that it is the men that need to speak out. It's time for a men's movement now. We don't want to be superior to you guys...just equal.

International Man Day? Uh-why? I mean they are not been abused or anything. They are already strong, dominant and superior within society. That is what I know. Anyway, I do not understand why.

Your comments are unfair.
The post was also meant to be tongue in cheek.

To be honest I had no idea this day existed. But I also did a search for international men's day. I came across the date November 19th. So I am guessing that is international men's day. I bet everyday is some kind of day somewhere in this nutty world of ours.
