Would you just hit 'like' on your friends' statuses?

Nope I won't, if anyone ask me this question. So much is happening on Facebook, it is just too much to cater. With so many girl friends updating their profile pictures overnight and male buddies posting their poems of their love ones/break ups or just about any un-funny lines or jokes shared from some other sources or their love for fancy motor bikes and cars. I ain't buying them now. I consider this as a matured guys's decision but I am tired of just hitting likes on my friends' statuses. But now i have started hitting likes on my genuine interests: comments that makes me smile (no matter if he is a stranger or a friend to me), complimenting on the pictures i like in real (i don't mind criticizing on my fans' recent profile pics). And i too expect nothing from my friends or strangers on my list. Why would someone wanted his/her status to be liked by many when it is boring, non-nonsensical and just about ugly..lol. I have noticed some people who post their statuses and the only person who have hit 'like', is him/her. How sad! I must say. What do mylotters who are on FB have to say? Anyways, I did not post this in an intention to make you feel uncomfy or something, for the overnight status updater lots on FB.

Well I don't know about you but I treasure the ones who hardly talks. I'd really want to delete the ones who have big mouths and talks gibberish all the time.

I dont use facebook at all. But all my customers in my cafe do use it. So what do they get from all those likes? Not a thing right? Might be why I dont do facebook. Fb makes money off you. You dont make fb money.

Probably a contentment of being approved by their friends. Teens are more likely to exchange likes..but not me.

Yeah, read the response below, the user hit 345 likes as a gesture of courtesy. I don't know what the likes really have to do with the courtesy.

I think you are right, but many seem to like anything and everything on face book.

Well no i dont but there is an exception for me. When my friends join contests and it is base on whose picture or status gets the most then I will like it for them, sometimes without really reading or looking at the picture. Otherwise from that, I wont contribute to just liking a status that don't interest me. I like and comment on facebook as I feel like and no one can force me to do otherwise. There are times people telling me to like a group they created, but to be honest I have interest in the type of group they created. If I like that group I will start to receive unnecessary notification from the group that will start to feel really annoying to me. So like I said before I will never let someone force me to do what I don't truly want to do.

Indeed your exception makes more sense. Its really a tedious job to make changes on what updates you want to get from the people/group and to unfollow them.

I am tired of lonely and blues statuses I seldom go to Facebook nowadays after i found out mylot. I spend more time here than there. I also blocked some friends before of endless statuses in their lives. LOL. I get tired of reading their whines as if they were the most unfortunate ones. NOt minding the feelings of others like we have our problems too. pleaaseeeeee

At one time, I honestly commented on 1 of my friend's (who whines the most) status, to stop mourning for his lost love and that he stuff up his stomach and sleep on his problem. Why would someone wants to put up his whole personal life on FB, just to grab attention.

Yes its awkward. They should rather use phones to whine about anything but FB or the world. I've read that somewhere that you ought to express your thoughts, but that will really work when you are actually talking with the person in real. FB may not be a good option for their therapy.

ahhh did that too.... she said, someone told her that it is good to express her thoughts because it's a therapy. I just commented to her after, ahhh if that will make you feel better go on.. I have couple of friends just like this whines.. about work, love, traffic, weather ......... but not doing something about it. that makes feel awkward.

'Like' button is just like an achievement for the statuses that really deserve it. I never hit that 'like' button without a care. Just hate people that create junk statuses with so much 'like'. Don't they know that their status is so much annoying than singing cat in midnight ?? -_-

That's right, they have to stop getting so much approval for an annoying status otherwise they won't get the hint that they have to stop.

I don't use facebook very much so I don't like very much things as it is but when I see something really funny or witty that one of my friends has posted I'll usually like it. Overall though I'm just not that good at keeping up with facebook and I think it's kind of a weird site to use because of all the different personal things that people post on there. Not to mention the fact that I don't really even know a lot of the people that I have on facebook. So it's pretty weird to see pictures and things from their lives when I barely even know them.

You are right, at first I thought it was supposed to be just Face-'Book', but it's more like their own personal diary/book now. It's more or like your personal life is on auction.

I just hit like when I feel that it is something worth liking at all. It would be something like a picture of a newborn baby, an achievement in the school or office, inspirational quotes or a funny incident.

as for me, i only like a friend's or anyone's status if i can relate and appreciate what i read or saw no matter if we are close or someone is a stranger and i also like a comment if i appreciate what a person or friend has said or commented with regards to what i have posted..i think it is best not to expect on people because if we expect a lot and we don't get said we just feel sad and disappointed, so if i post something it is because i like it and i would not think about getting so many likes or comments for it. if they do appreciate or liked it, i am thankful, if not then it's ok.

Of course one should not feel saddened by not getting likes on their status. At times, FB is to be blamed because when you log in to FB, the first thing you will see is 'How are you?', 'what's on your mind?' et al. under the update status button, whcih tempts the user to post something just for the heck of it..or thats what i feel.

I'm not hit like if i feel i not like. Sometime some my friend send me a message to like something. If i like i will hit like if i dont like nobody can force me to like.

I have never been asked to hit like or something. But they way they post their statuses indicates they are hungry for likes from friends and strangers.

You can't like something just because you're friends. You have to be honest to yourself and only like things you really like. You don't have to give your friends a false reassurance and you're not obliged to d so.

i am tierd of hitting likes too.one day i sat down lo hit likes on all my friends post for the day and i was practically pressing the button 345 times when my friends are 430. strange, people update status just because they want to be called an active member of facebook.anything and everything they do is captured and is pasted on their wall. so do not feel bad there are a lot of people just like us. have a good day...!!

I used to like everything thats was happening on Facebook, specially in most of my real friends' pages. But I kind of stopped doing that, and just like you, I now only like something that I truly like. But there are still a lot of likes I give out of pure courtesy friendship and devotion, to either my friends or certain people that I like/fancy on FB.

Just like you, a simple gesture of courtesy has brought me too many unwanted notifications. I have to daily hide the notifications just because I don't want to completely unfollow them. Its a tedious thing to do when we have lot many things to do here on mylot.

I have never spend more than 30 minutes on facebook. So whatever i feeds i have read when i am on this site this span of time, this is only where i would look and read. if i happen to like the post i would like, but if the feed is from someone, and then i do not really like the post or its not interesting to me... i'd never like it even if its from a friend.
