Yesterday my mother donated a kidney to my father. My father has had kidney problems for some time. My parents talked to the doctors about his situation and the doctors told them that there were only two options: Dialysis or a kidney transplantation. A kidney from a stranger wasn't a realistic option because the waiting list was too long, so the doctor mentioned that my mother could donate one of her kidneys. My mother was willing to do that and she went to through a lot of examinations because they wanted to make sure that she was 100% healthy. The results of the examinations showed that my mother would be able to donate one of her kidneys and yesterday the surgery took place. Everything went well. It will take them some time to recover, but we are all really happy that the surgery went well.

It is great to know about the noble deed of your mother and hope your parents are recovering fast. Kidney transplantation becomes so popular now days and people are ready to donate kidney to save their dear one life. In the past there were much myths and people hesitated to donate kidney. Some months ago, a girl was in news for the same reason from our native village. The girl was so brilliant in her studies. Due to some disease her kidney got damaged. Her mother was willing but not able to donate kidney as she had some problem. Then her mother’s sister donate her kidney, but there was some rules and permission needed from the state government and girl’s health become critical due to the negligence of government officials. Then newspaper published her story and it got attention by the Ministers and asked the officials to do the formalities quickly. The girl was from a poor family. Knowing the story from the newspaper, the villagers collected money for her operation. Later government and other organizations also come forward to help her family for the treatment. Now she recovered well and studying well. Her family becomes financially sound with the help of all people. After spreading her story through media, many got inspired and donating kidney. So many people survived by this noble act recently.

Thank you. That is a very touching and inspiring story I am happy to hear that the girl was able to get treatment and able to recover. It great that her story was able to inspire others to donate kidneys. In my country we sometimes hear about people who have donated a kidney to a family member and the magazines like to write about that kind of stories. I didn't imagine that a story like that would take place in own family as well, but when my parents talked to the doctors and the doctors told them a kidney transplant would be the best option, my mother immediately said that she would be willing to donate her kidney.

This is very touching. One more proof how a person can show her unconditional love to someone she really loves. I admire your mom and your dad is lucky to have her. May be your father is a good man as well that is why your mom never had a second thought of donating her own kidney. I will pray your dad's speedy recovery.

Thank you. Yes, my mother knew right away that she would donate her kidney if the examinations showed that it was possible. She went through a lot of examinations and the result of the examinations was positive. Fortunately the sugery went well, but of course it will take a while before they both recover from the surgery especially my father because his body has to adjust to the new kidney. My father is very grateful that my mother agreed to donate one of her kidneys, and he has given her lost of expensive gifts, I think that is his way of showing his appreciation for the thing she has done for him.

Perhaps, your father has realized that he means so much to your mom so he tries to compensate with those things he gave her. But I believe that your mother would have wanted him to get well soon more than those gifts she has been receiving.

I am sure she will be fine with one kidney. I have a friend who has had one and he said he did not feel any difference.

I also think that she will be fine. In the beginning she has to stay at the hospital, but she will probably be able to return to her home in about a week. I don't think that it is a problem to live with one kidney. Some people live that way for years without knowing it. My father might have to stay at the hospital a little longer because they have to make sure that the kidney is working.

That was such a noble thing for your mom to do. It's a really great sacrifice. And it is quite amazing that she happens to be a complete match to your father. Because most of the time, it's either the parents or kids who are good matches for the patient. I hope both your parents recuperate fully from the operation.

I also thought about that when I first heard about it. I was surpriced to hear that my mother was a match to my father, I thought that it had to be me or my brother or my uncle, but my mother went through a lot of examinations and they concluded that she would be able to donate a kidney to my father. The surgery went well and we hope that my fathe's body will adjust to the new kidney without problems. Right now we are just very happy that the surgery went well, and hopefully they will both recuperate.

I am so happy to hear this good news. I hope your father would get much better with this kidney transplantation. Your mother will be fine with one kidney as long as she keep her health checked well. Your mother is so generous and cares about your father. May God bless your family!

Yes, my mother will be fine with one kidney. They checked her health very, very carefully before the surgery, and if she hadn't been 100% healthy she wouldn't have been able to donate one of her kidneys to my father. Since I started this discussion both of my parents have returned to their homes. They have to be very careful in the next weeks and there are many things that they are not allowed to do right after the surgery, but my uncle lives very close to their home and he helps them a lot. We are all really happy that the surgery went well. There haven't been any complications and my father's new kidney works really well.

Yes, she really loves my father and when the doctors asked her if she would be willing to donate one of her kidneys she immediately said yes. A kidney from a family member was the only option for my father. It is also possible to get a kidney from a stranger, but the waiting list is very long, so wasn't a realistic option. I would have been willing to donate one of my kidneys as well, but my medication affects my kidneys and they wouldn't have been able to use my kidney. My mother is still at the hospital, but she will probably be able to return to her home next week. There are many things that she isn't allowed to do in the beginning, but my uncle, my husband and I are going to help her.
