Second Chance

We all can name television shows that were canceled after only a couple of episodes and I really felt the networks didn't give the show a chance. Now there are many shows getting another chance on cable channels. One example is Southland that NBC canceled for low ratings and TNT made the smart move to pick up the show. Southland has done well rating wise and its one of my don't miss shows. Its very entertaining and the actors do an excellent job in their roles. Another is the comedy Cougar Town. ABC didn't treat the show well airing in bad time slots. It will be interesting to see if the show ends up being on a long time like Southland. Flashpoint aired on CBS on Fridays and did well, but the network no longer had room for the show. It was smart of ION to buy the rights of the show and then aired the show for several seasons. Its one show I wish ION would have kept airing, but it did last many seasons. Every network is going to find they let a show go and another network is going to benefit. There are times I think networks just weren't thinking placing a show on a night it doesn't even stand a chance from the first airing. This year its Cult airing right after one of the tamest shows on the air now. I don't think another network will air Cult, but its a shame that it didn't stand even a little chance. I'll admit even Matt Bomer who was going to play the main role would have been able to help the show. I really feel for Mr Davis probably wants to go back to Vampire Diaries now. Name a show that aired on 2 networks and one you think should get a chance on another network?

I would never want to be a police officer. What a dangerous job. Its scary not knowing if you will be alright by the end of the day. The people that are police officers work hard to help us be safer. I liked the episodes the actors that are playing police officers go into the schools. It helps young people to not fear the police officers. Thanks for posting and its great to see a show where the actors do ride alongs with actual officers to learn the job.

Many of the streets in Los Angeles I wouldn't even consider driving down them. Police officers don't earn a lot of money, as one of my friends use to be an officer talk about lots of stress with all the cases of domestic violence that she would have to get in between fighting couples. She commented more than once that going into homes to solve problems was harder than the streets.

That reminds me of JAG when it was on NBC, then dropped. Then CBS took it and it went on to air like ten years, plus it spawned the spinoff of NCIS. I kind of think Happy Endings deserves a second chance on another network. It is also on ABC like Cougar Town. And like Cougar Town, Happy Endings gets a lot of critical acclaim. I don't know if it would be too expensive for TBS to pickup, but it would be a good one to consider.

I think if Happy Endings is canceled, then the USA Network may end up being the new home for the show. Its a surprise to me, as think TBS would be a great fit. I think the fans are lucky to see networks showing interest, as it means the network airing the show now will certainly consider possibly another night if renewed or air a different show with it. Many shows get into trouble because of the time slot and what airs before the show just not compatible. Thanks for posting.

My son got me stuck on Southland. At first I didn't like it but I gave it a second chance and I'm glad I did. I really like the characters, they have developed them well and yet their personal lives don't intrude into their jobs--except Sammy, how can he function when he's always on his cell, especially when he's driving?! I guess that's to depict how private lives bleed over into jobs and affect performance but he seems to be doing fine so far. Are you saying Cult is not going to be renewed? That would be disappointing but if they wrap it up neatly and don't leave viewers hanging it will have been an entertaining show. I hate it when they just stop a show and don't tie up loose ends for their viewers.

Sammy is the one character I don't like, as talking on the cell phone and driving is one of my biggest things that make me mad. People don't understand more accidents happen because of the high number of people not paying attention. I think cell phone should be made to not work when your in the drivers seat of any car. A company should just make a cell phone not work in the car, so you have to get out before making any call. Cult is doing poorly on Friday Nights losing viewers every week. I just hope all the episodes do air. There is no way it will even be considered for a renewal. Thanks for posting.
