Yard sale time today here.........

Mexico
March 17, 2013 8:58am CST
We set up for my yard sale here at 530 am. The taxi drivers came for their coffees, and a few bought a few things. Took my son and brother about an hour to set everything up. People started coming and buying even before everything was out. Many sure try and get you to drop prices. I did on a few items, but most are all priced very cheap. Im very happy. Ive made $23.00 already in only a little more than an hour. Hope rest of the day goes this well.

hi maria. good for you then. it seems you will be able to sell all your items and make quite a profit. i think hagglers will be around your yard sale. these people are always looking for a good deal and would always try to get the lowest possible price so you really have to stand your ground and be firm with the prices that you have set. really no sense in having a yard sale and selling items at a loss of profit. you would be better off donating these items to charity. again good luck and keep us updated. cheers!!!

That is a great way to start. It is still early and I bet you will be swamped when people get out of church. It is a good idea to keep you r prices low so that things will sell. Who wants to pack them back up :)

I noticed this many times, they try to bargain. I would too if they are willing to drop the price.

That's ridiculous, I was selling a few things that were just collecting dust here, for say 0.50 cents and people expected me to drive across the country to give it to them.

Yep, some of these I think have the same idea as me. Buy cheap and re sell them later. I guess.

Congrats on the 23$! I did a few yard sale myself back in the days, most of them went well and i agree there are always those people who just love bargaining and you have to drop the prices even when it is super cheap already. Anyways, Hope the rest of the day went well. :]

I don't go to yard sales where I live as the prices are waay too high and they are not willing to drop the prices. I liked going to them in the US though and U.K. You have done well and I hope that the day is very successful for you. What kinds of items are you selling?
• Mexico
17 Mar 13
Really? here and in the usa I have got alot of great deal at yard sales. I used to go sat. and sundays in the usa. As there were sells all over there. Not so many here in mx.

That's great to hear. Yard sales are always a great way to make some extra cash from the stuff that are sometimes just lying around. I too have yard sales about 8-6 months interval. I buy stuff from other yard sales and sell it in mine making little bit profit each time.

I`d have a lot of fun at yard sales in Mexico if they sell there some talavera from Puebla and other such beautiful things. I have a wall in my living room where I display ceramic dishes from Mexico and Spain mainly. Luck with your sale, Marìa.

I have bought talavera in Puebla for reasonable prices (just a dish or two, of course). But they are very expensive here. When and if I get rich, I`ll buy a whole set of talvera dishes.
• Mexico
17 Mar 13
Yes, we can buy almost everything. Ive seen where people bought things here, that were worth alot of money.
• Mexico
18 Mar 13
wow. I have gotten a few things here that I knew were expensive buys from the usa. I made 86.00 at the sell.

That's why it is better to mark the prices up a bit higher, so that you have room for negotiation. You still end up getting the price you want, and the people come away feeling like they have gotten a good deal.
• Mexico
18 Mar 13
Yes, I will do that next time. As many asked for lower price off what I had marked them.

It's still winter where I live so it's not really the right time for garage sales or yard sales but once the snow melts and it gets warmer outside me and my family definitely need to have a garage sale. My girlfriend and I are moving at the end of the summer and we are traveling across country so we are trying to get rid of all the unnecessary stuff that we have. We're hoping that we can make a decent amount of money from it as well so that way we'll have more funds for moving.
• Mexico
18 Mar 13
I understand that. I was lucky, yesterday was warm and alot of people came. i made 86.00. Im very happy. :)

Getting rid of stuff can be very liberating, making money off of it is even better Hope you had a good sale. I've been to a few yard sales and found treasures here and there. It's fun to make a day of it. They are popular in the summer months here so looking forward to them!

It was a lot of work. But Im glad we did it. We will do another next sunday. Ill go through the house this week and get more stuff out to sell.

18 Mar 13
That is great that you made a lot of money and are going to reinvest it into more items to sell. The weather is warming up and I am hoping to find some garage sales soon so I can buy some jewelry and hopefully some fabric. I love to pull necklaces apart and restring them into something else. I am also going to look for old jeans so I can make them into handbags and use the pockets to make holders for my jewelry and maybe some smaller purses for kids.
• Mexico
18 Mar 13
I was very happy. I am now going to hit them hard, and get more stuff out this week to sell. I also know now what people are looking for.
