All last week I took a week of vacation and didn't go anywhere! I have been doing this so long on my vacation time that I am so sick of it! I always plan to do things around the apartment like dishes, dusting and go to the recycling center. I never plan to go anywahere even when it for a day! I am now going to save money up for a vacation! I'll start with a day trip and work my way up! I am not getting any younger and waiting to retire to do this is away in the future is not going to cut it!

I am like that most of the time. I will waste away my vacation by just tinkering around the house, doing some cleaning and fixing. I always say I will go to this place to do this after I have cleaned the house. But there's always too many stuff to clean and do around the house that by the time I am done, I am too tired to go out.

Sounds like me! I alos plan on doing some cleaning when I have vacation! This vacation was no different! I did must of the cleaning I had planned on. The rest of the time I spent on the computer just so I wouldn't get so bored! I know I can save money for some trips! As long as I put my mind to it,I can!

I know what you mean! Although every day is a vacation for me, I never go anywhere or do anything because I'm trying to save for retirement. Well, that looks pretty dim for me and I will probably be on SS only as I began saving very late. I was even going to not go to my son's wedding for fear of spending the money. They were having a civil ceremony and her family insists on a church wedding later and I thought I would save money and just to to the church wedding. Then my ex called and asked me if I'd lost my mind! After we talked awhile I decided to go and I'm so glad I did!! He was right, there is not sense not being a burden to my children if they never see me before I retire and like he also says, by the time we get too old to get around there probably won't be any retirement funds left for anyone, anyway. So I'm relaxing about money a bit and while I probably won't go a lot of places, I don't intend to sit at home all the time and work the internet for the little it puts in my savings. You make some plans, look up info, get excited about a trip and go for it! There are some gorgeous places in your state and a lot to see and do. Get one of those paddle boats and spend a day on a lake, go fishing, hiking, camping or to one of your wonderful museums and a nice lunch in a good restaurant.

I have a retirement fund through my job and have had like 10 plus years. My employeer matches my amount I put in every month. I know SS will not be enough to live on when I retire! I know of some great places in Wisconsin I can go to that I would love to see! That would not be hard to save up for. Later on I would love to do a feww vacations out of state! That will take alittle more savings! I know I can do it if I put my mind to it!

Yeah blue...make some goals you want to achieve and then plan what you need to do to get what you want...even if it's saving 20 bucks a week for a year. That will get you about a thousand bucks. The thing is, life will pass you by if you let it. I'm 60 now and I have mobility issues but I decided I would start to do some travelling. No-one is going to do it for me so I have to make this work. Maybe I will come visit you someday.

I'm not getting any younger myself! I will be 51 in May! I don't want time to go by and not do some traveling before I retire! I will start off slow and work my way up from a day trip to an all week trip! I can do it and will!

My children have school holidays and these can be relaxing times for us to enjoy as a happy family. Once or twice a year we go on an international trip like we went to South America for one month last year. Good luck saving up money for your vacation. I love to go on day trips to interesting places. Good luck.

Most of my friends have kids. They usually take at least one trip a year with them or just chill at home with the kids. My first trips will be short ones. Just around Wisconsin where I live and go from there. I know I can save money as long as I put my mind to it!

I think even doing something in your same town can be fun. We go to a resort town in the mountains when we can afford to but that isn't very often. But even just going to a motel with a swimming pool or an entertainment center in your town can be fun.

The city I live in has a resort with a water park in it. I could look into that. It is also right on Lake Michigan. I know besides the water park they have resturants and shops. It is something I can look into!
