I may have decided on homeward route

We are traveling by train around Eastern Europe in May and June this year. I think that Zagreb to Brussels would be a good choice of journey to link up with the Euro Star train home. There are two options and they involve a night journey either from Munich to Koln or Zagreb to Munich. The first option is better with its gaps between connections however it arrives in the morning in Brussels. The second option would leave us with just a 12 minute gap in Frankfurt Main Station. It would arrive at exactly the right time for getting the Euro Star train. It is hard to choose which one to book. Have you ever done a trip when you have had to change at another train station, bus station or plane? If so did you have enough time for your connection? Did you ever have a tight gap between connections?

I never had to change, but when we were going from Winnipeg to P.E.I we went first through Ontario and Quebec and Eastern Canada and when we came back we went through the States. Since we were driving by car, all we had to worry about was what motels we would stop at.

Thanks for your excellent response. I would love to visit Prince Edward Island and would have done so if my flight hadn't been cancelled. I went to Vancouver instead and had an excellent time.

I grew up in Vancouver. It is a wonderful city when it is not raining. I used to live in the South end and then the East end. It changed a bit since I was young because of those Chinese who escaped Hong Kong when the Communists took over. Did you go to Lynn Valley? That's in North Vancouver and they have a swinging bridge.

When my husband and I travelled around in Europe for one month we travelled from Denmark to Greece we changed trains in Germany, Hungary and Serbia. In Hungary and in Serbia we had plenty of time to find the next train, but in Germany we almost missed the train. There was supposed to be a 15 minute gap between the connections, but the night train from Denmark was delayed and when we arrived in Germany we only had 5 minutes to find the next train. It was hard to run because we had a lot luggage, but we had to run anyway. We managed to board the train one minute before it left, and we were really happy. If we had missed that train we would also have missed the trains in Hungaty and Serbia and we already had reservations for those trains.

I really enjoyed reading about you and your husbands travels in Europe. It can be hair raising to board a train one minute before it leaves. You really needed that train so you could get on your reserved trains in Hungary and Serbia. I have read that incoming trains into Belgrade, Serbia can arrive two or three hours late. That sounds awful for any connections. Now I have heard trains terminate at Skopje, Macedonia and no longer go onto Greece. I am not sure if there is a train from Belgrade, Serbia to Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina. I remember with delight traveling on a Weekend Wonder Ticket in Germany on slow trains and regional expresses. I went over to Bavaria on lots of different trains.

I love hearing about your plans for your trip, it's as almost that I am going with you, spiritually, I shall very much look forward to hearing all about it on your return and hopefully all your hard work at planning your itinery works out well. When we went to Amsterdam, we had to get the Eurostar to Bruges, where we had to change for Amsterdam, the trains were frequent to Amsterdam, every hour I believe, we had just missed one, but we didn't have enough time to explore Bruges. So we did that on the return, knowing we had plenty of time to kill before we caught the Eurostar back to London.

When i'm going traveling with my friends to Bali, we should change our train. Well, we're from Jakarta, it means we need at least 12 hours to go to Bali. Using train will make us faster (train makes our trip only 9 hours) than using bus (bus need 11 hours, and if there's traffic jam, it gonnna be so horrible trip, we ever go to Bali and need 18 hours!). Actually i wanna using plane, but my friends's budget not enough so we using train. When go to Bali, we need change our train twice, first in Surabaya city and change to new train to Bali and then change to boat .. looks so tired but it nice. we can spend our holiday without thinking waste a lot of money. hemm .. thigh gap? never had it before .. but who know later? lol
