My Cat KNEW The Spray Was Doing Some Good

We all know cats are amazing creatures but I now have a deeper understanding of how CLEVER they are. Earlier, a very nice Courier delivered my household flea spray and it took me 15 minutes to get into the double-wrapped packaging around it..but I got there in the end and set to work, following the instructions on the canister. Basically, I had to spray surfaces where the cat goes. It has a fine spray that doesn't make much noise. I could spray the bedding but NOT the cat. I went upstairs with it, spraying the stairs as I went and Flojo was up at the top, in the bathroom. As soon as she saw me using this spray I swear she KNEW what I was doing and didn't get stressed out with it at all. In fact, she followed me around the house, tail up! I stopped for a couple of minutes at the top of the stairs and asked her if she wanted a hug. She responded, 'Yes please' and I picked her up. She then did the cutest thing. She nuzzled right under my chin and pulled herself closer to me in a ball, as if to say, 'Thanks.' Honestly, it was so sweet. After that she inspected her bedding (which doesn't harm her at all, even with the spray on it, which is the whole point), kneaded it for a bit, then plonked down on it whilst I watched Sir Bradley Wiggins ride his bike around Calella (a place I've visited twice) in the most remarkable race from his point of view. So, all in all, a profitable afternoon. Brad came 6th by the way, for those of you who are interested!

It may have something very aromatic in it that is bad for the fleas but smells good for her. It could in fact be something she would choose to roll in if it grew where you live and she could access it. I think animals know what is good for them, at least sometimes.

It did have a smell to it but it went after a few minutes (I opened the window for a bit) and it doesn't smell at all now. The cat's just behaving like she would do normally, which is a relief. I shall monitor her and see if she stops the scratching. If it carries on we may have to take her to the vet for the more advanced Frontline. Apparently, the spray stops further fleas from developing in carpets and things and will kill adult fleas for 2 months. I have some left too but won't have to use that for a very long time. Great product by the looks of it!

It sounds really nice. I know when I put a flea killer on my cats the fleas start running and it seems to torment them all over to feel the fleas flee.

That was quick delivery service. Let us know how well it's working. And of course FloJo knew what you were doing. She's a cat, after all.

I even received an email from the Courier (DPD) in question letting me know the time frame of delivery..between 12.15 and 1.15 in the afternoon. He came about 12.45. Then again, the reason why delivery is quick is due to the country being the size of Oregon, according to the CIA website. Why was I on there? Looking at flags!

Interesting. My cats would always run from anything in a spray can or bottle.

The actual spray mechanism itself is very quiet so that could've contributed to my cat feeling at ease watching me use it lol.

You have a really smart kitty Janey! Most cats will run. You are so fortunate to have a kitty. I love cats but can't have any. I enjoy watching them on YouTube. When I lived by myself I had cats but those days are long gone.

Are you not allowed to have them?

Yes, I love my cat. She is sixteen years old but still has her sweetness about her. She is showing her age by the way she is not able to jump like she used to. Sometimes she starts to jump and then she falls backwards. I have to help her. I know when she goes I will miss her. I do hope she can live a little longer, but what I understand most people who own cats tell me their cat does not live past seven years. Well, when my cat goes, I'm going to get another one that looks like her. I know that not all cats are loveable. My uncle's cat loved to bite. it was not an affectionate bite either.

Cats are very clever creatures indeed! Lets hope the spray does the trick and gets rid of those damn critters superfast! I remember my beloved Zeus, one of my ex's cats would spend most of his time outside in his kingdom, he was quite feral, but whenever I wasn't well he wouldn't leave my side. Now normally I don't have animals on my bed, but for him I made an exception, you shouldn't have favourites, but out of the four he was the one I missed the most, I have a beautiful pic of me holding him, I got it professionally done by the local paper where I lived, they did a piece on me and I insisted Zeus was in the picture, I pestered them for some free photos, I got them framed. I hope he's being looked after, I worshipped that beautiful cat.

In my case I was able to bring my beloved Jodie (a boy) back to Mum's when I left 'Blobby' as he'd brought him in to me as a kitten... a mistake as it turned out as he wasn't for looking after him like I wanted to. I didn't trust 'Blobby' to look after him so brought the cat to Mum's with me. I never regretted it as he turned from being a miserable indoor cat to a cat who absolutely ADORED being outdoors with new friends he'd made. The one image I remember of him was he used to sit on the cemetery wall, spot his friend further down and run over to him or her..then they'd both watch the sun go down. Unfortunately, Jodie developed arthritis in his legs and only survived until he was 12, a pathetic age for a cat to die. I felt guilty having him put down but his quality of life was severely impaired (and we did try him on various treatments, including steroids, that worked for a few days then he was back to hardly being able to walk), however, I remember him how he WAS and the fact I rescued him from Blobby is testament to how the cat subsequently developed. The other cats didn't like him though! How old will Zeus be now?

That's sweet. My cats see any kind of change as a danger and get all upset. Rygel has been walking around since I got home doing is "someone is in trouble" meows, but we can't find anything besides his wanting lots of pets...

LOL! Cats do communicate a lot don't they? Because Flojo is indoors most of the time she 'talks to me' sometimes...and I talk to her, obviously.

Okay, so now I think I NEED and WANT one. What's the name of this spray and how much did it cost? My cats are having flea problems and it's about time to REALLY do something about it. I have been putting the idea of sprays off for a while now.

See link below:- http://www.pet-supermarket.co.uk/Products/CN216001/virbac-indorex-flea-spray I actually bought it for less than £10 as I found a voucher online that brought the total down even further. I assume you can buy this product in your country. However, it's for areas the cats go on, not for the cats themselves so you would need to treat the cats as well with Frontline or something similar. Hope you find some!

It sounds as if she really knew that you were doing something to help her. Let us know if it works

Yes, I think she knew too, bless 'er. I shall let you know if there is any improvement in my cat's fur and behaviour. Because of the Frontline we gave her about 2 and a half weeks ago, she's definitely lessened the scratching to a certain extent. This spray on carpets and bedding will kill any juvenile fleas for up to a year and adult ones for 2 months, so, fingers crossed we shall be as flea free as we can be in a short while!

I hope that the spray would indeed help Flojo. So how was he doing now after all those sprays in the house. Has there any improvements from the itchiness he was experiencing.

She's definitely a lot better than she was and her fur on her back is moving up and down on its own, I think you know what I mean. I have told John to take her into the vets in a few weeks if her fur hasn't grown back as this would mean she's actually allergic to fleas and would need an injection of some sort, along with the more potent Frontline Combo.

That's funny, it does seem like she knew what you were doing. I can't think of any sensible explanation for this, unless maybe she can see the fleas dying, or maybe she thinks of you as being the person who looks after her, and therefore assumes that when you do something to her bedding it is taking care of her. Alternatively all these theories on reincarnation could be right, and she once worked in a pet shop selling flea spray, in a past life.

Could well be. Either way she's extremely intelligent..as all cats are of course.
