Blatant truth or diplomacy

Is it better to tell the truth on someone's face at one shot and make her cry or is it better to hold on for a long time and reveal it slowly in spite of knowing that you are maintaining the relationship forcibly? Which would hurt more? This question is concerned about relationships where you know the relationship has no future. I was in such a dilemma and i chose to tell the truth at one go. That was really painful for both of us. Do you have any such experiences to share?

I prefer to tell the truth at one go, and when someone has to tell me something unpleasant I also prefer that the person tells me the entire truth at once. It is painful, but when we know the truth we are able to deal with it and I think that is better than a situation where the person tries to be nice and diplomatic and reveals the truth slowly. In the past when one of my previous relationships ended I told ex-boyfriend the entire truth straight away. He was very hurt and the situation was painful for both of us, but I think that it would have been even more painful to tell the truth slowly.

Its better to tell the truth at once ,may be its painful but its better not to stretch what has ended. If your partner is serious in relationship and you start avoiding him/her to derail things slowly then that would make situation worse.
