I have met a few people who chain their dogs upside down or put them in a cage. Clearly the dogs happy, being outside lonely, in all weathers, being confined. My neighbours had a dog for several years, it had a several disease,t hey left it outside where it starved and died. We kept going over and feeding it, but because of the disease, and other health issues. Now they got another dog, and its out in the pen as well. I feel so bad for this dog, its so lnely outside, and they go in feed it, and walk off no walks, or spending time with it. It shows what type of people they are if all you do is chain the dog up in a pen.

Personally I am not a fan of people having outside dogs. I feel like dogs are meant to be loved and cared for like family. I would never put my dogs outside on a chain or in a pen. I love my dogs. =) When we had a fenced in yard I would let the dogs go outside and play but I also let them in after an hour of two, especially in hot or cold weather! I think it is SO mean to leave a dog outside with no human love or interaction...

They went away for a week and left the dog there with no food or water. My other neighbour who has since moved. Would chain their dog up to a tree and go to work.I called animal control and they have to pay $400 to get the dog back. My sisters boyfriends dog was chained up for 19 years, he got out he would bite people, and get hit by cars. But its all in how you are raised.

I will never understand how there are people that are able to do something like this to their pets. I certainly wouldn't be able to do it because dogs are living creatures and though they are not able to express their feelings in the same way that people are able to do, they do have feelings as well. We allow our dogs to live in the house with them, spend a lot of time playing with them and they are walked regularly as well. I think these are all things that a dog needs to be happy and healthy.

When I was living in Poland the place where I worked had a chained dog which lived in outside in a cage. I was so sad to see the way that they treated the dog. It was always chained and the cage where it lived was so small that the dog was hardly able to move. They gave the dog food, but they never took it for a walk. When I discussed it with my employer she said: "You don't understand. The dog is not a pet, it is a guard dog and he has to stay outside in the cage so that he will bark if someone tries to break in" I would never keep a dog in a cage outside. I took a picture of the dog and the cage and showed it to my family when I returned to my own country and they all agreed with me and thought that the dog didn't have a good life.

This just aggravates me so much. Why on earth do people have a dog to have it tied up all day and all night. What kind of a life is that for the dog. I have had Cody for 14 of his 15 years and I would never chain him and keep him outside and I live in a warm climate year round. My Cody has the run of the house both inside and outside. Why have a pet. My husbands cousin got a puppy about 6 months ago and he has him outside also chained under the staircase. I told him you need to unchain him and let him have some freedom. He is afraid of him getting into his crops that he is growing. However, there is room enough for him to make a area for him to have room to run and play. UGH! People who intend to have a dog and chain or cage them should not have a dog at all. How would they like to be chained or caged.

I have two dogs, and I would never think about leaving either one of them outside all day and all night. It sems so cuel to me, and you are right, that when dogs are left outside, they are neglected, and not taken care of like they should be. I decided that when I got any dogs at all, they would never stay outside, and they don't. they are only out there to do their business, then I let them back in. they are so used to being inside anyway. Take care, and have a good day.

I agree with you, the dogs will be completely different. Those I know left their dogs outside, even intereacted with them the dogs were more violent, and aggressive personalities. I could never sleep at night knowing my dog is tied up outside or in a pen. Let alone pay the ridiculous fees for a dog, to do that.

Those types of people are obviously not animal lovers and I don't think they should have a pet in the first place. All the dogs I've had have lived indoors and now we have a kitten and a rabbit who also live indoors. I remember when I was younger my grandpa gave me a rabbit and one of those really nice outdoor rabbit hutches for him. We had a screened in patio that never got direct sunlight and that's where the rabbit lived. That's the only time I've had an animal live outdoors. I would be worried sick to leave a pet outside 24/7. I'd be concerned about the weather and I'd just feel terrible about leaving an animal outside. I love having my pets inside and if I could, I'd have the horse indoors too lol

hi rikcki I have begun to think that before buying a dog the owners to be should be checked to see if they have any mental problems as people who chain a dog up like that in a pen and just leave it must be close to insanity or just really vicious people, why have a dog if you do not want to care for it and tend it and love it.Dogs can be such great companions if treated right and cared for properly. I had two dogs and I loved them both so much. ONe was puj to sleep by my mom without my permission when I was in the hospital having a hysterectomy. The other I had to re-home as we had sold our house and were moving into an apartment. I did find a great home for her but really really felt so bad at having to give her up.[

Some people are cruel or just don't think or understand that pets need love and attention. I would never leave my dog outside chained up, he has to run and jump alot. I'm the Frugal Bree
