most beauty products contain salt. It help exfoliates skin. When taking a bath, I used salt once a week. It deeply cleanses skin.

I have never been in sea water although I have been to a close sea beach for only one time in my whole life. From what you describe in the discussion, sea water seems to be good for the skin although it could make the skin dark as well. I wish I could have a chance to experience sea water some day.

I don't think the sea water really makes your skin darker. I always thought it's the sun. As to the salty water being a good medicine - hmmmm, I think not a medicine but does help up to a certain point because I think it is like a saline solution or something that cleanses the wound and the like.

Hi, I live close to the sea, ours is a coastal town and I often wondered why the seawater there managed to stay clear and free from organism in spite of the numerous canals that runs down to it. Then I realized that the natural chemical present in the seawater has good antimicrobial characteristics like sodium and chlorine, the same chemicals that give it a bitter-salty taste, which could darken skin complexion too. We used to go down the sea after a long bout of sickness to bathe in its healing waters as the old timers say. Now, their belief may hold some water after all.

Yeah, salt and salt water is really drying, I mean, it has the drying effect. That's great for pimples and acne and scars, too. But on the parts of my face where it is dry, it made it even drier.

Salt water is bad if its too much, it can help speed up the process of your skin darkening.. but the more you are under the sun, it is more likely that the sun is the culprit. I remember that chlorine in pools are more likely to burn your skin more than salk water can...its just that often in the sea swimming, we do not take a break and remain in shade to protect ourselves from getting sun burned. The problem with sea water is if the sea, or the area you bathe in is not clean, that is when you will feel itchy... because the water is not clean! I am sure if you swim in a beach that is very clean, it is not going to be itchy! =)

well ivr heard a lot from ayurvedic doctors that sea water is able of curing a lot of skin diseases...it is said that the salt content in the sea water is able to cure many skin diseases and problems as salt is a substance that kills many germs..thats also one of the reasons why grapes are first kept in slight salt water before being consumed as it kills the germs coming from pesticides...

Sea water contains about 3% salt, besides the common salt Sodium chloride, the have other elements, so these have medicinal values for our stomach. After i bath in sea i bath again with ordinary water.. here in beaches you can see bathing places where you pay 10 rupees to bath. Thanks for sharing asliah HAPPY HOLI

Hi, I have heard that sea water has medicinal use. There are some things in the sea which have medicinal use. But I don't know about the use of sea water for skin. I like to go in sea waves. the climate on sea shore is also very pleasant and refreshes our mood.
