I went to a playgroup today with my children and I heard that. The teenagers loved seeing the beaches, the colorful market and the lovely local people. They came back home with new ideas after seeing so many port African people. Amazingly they are more grateful for all they have.
Did you go on any day trip or longer trip when you were at school, college or university?
Why is the Gambia popular with tourists yet the rest of West Africa is not?

When I still as student I always stay long time in the school or college, I love share, discussion and talk about everything that useful to improve my knowledge. But now I have no time to live my home because I work at home. Hi friend I don't know a lot about Gambia. I just know that in Gambia there are many beautiful place to visit. Have nice day.

The longest trip that I went on back in my school days was the obligatory trip to France, however seeing Calais and Bolougne doesn't make France look attractive to be honest, I didn't like either places, although when you are at school age you don't tend to truly appreciate the benefits of the country. We did a few day 'field trips' which were great just an excuse to get out of school. Sadly the trips were few and far between. At my last year of school they had a trip to see Les Miserables the musical in London, but as I didn't like any of my classmates I opted out.

Never went on a day trip or longer trip at school. I was not an A student, just a B plus, only the As got on the trip. Also when I came back from anywhere where the people were poorer, I never thought that I was privileges and had to be grateful. I figured the people thought that they were well off even if they were not because they compared themselves to their neighbors. I would not go to AFrica anyway. Still upset about people assuming that AFrica is the birthplace of humankind and because of that the Africans whose ancestors came below the Sahara are who we have to look up to.
No one knows where the Garden of Eden was.

I went on a couple of trips when I was a student. In the 7th grade my classmates and I visited a Danish island called Bornholm. It is a very popular place among the schools and most students visit Bornholm in the 7th grade. It is a beautiful islands with many small towns. One day we rented a bus and a driver and drove around on the island. We visited many different places that way. During our staying there we also visited another small island called Christians Oe. It was interesting to explore that island.
In the 9th grade we visited London. That is a very popular place among the Danish schools probably because it is close to Denmark and because we get the chance to practice the things that we have learned in the English lessons. We spent about a week in London and we visited many of the famous places during our stay.
In the 10th grade my class visited Copenhagen. It was a relatively short trip. We were divided in groups and we were able to choose the sights that we wanted to visit. I thought that it was nice that we were able to choose activities based on our interests. I enjoyed visiting the Planetarium and the Eksperimentarium where we were able to participate in a lot different activities and learn more about science etc.

I assume this school group did not meet the bumpsters, hustlers, haven't been where all the tourist been? The young men trying to find elderly women to take them out and buy expensive cars for them? They surely did not meet all those (mainly men/boys) who tell them sad stories about what a terrible life they have plus their family, begging for money (since it's an easy way to make an income). Lying and cheating. Or all these old men surrounded by young women who have children from ????? and make the man pay for everything?
Or the stories of the lying principals telling how great the school is, blah blah and dumping or selling all the schoolmaterials on the market place in Serrekunda?
The Gambia is popular because it's the cheapest country in Africa. You can eat for 40 cents already with 3 people (if you are willing to eat the local food).
Many other countries are also in war so not great places to stay at the moment.
In the Gambia you will also find many other African people since the Gambia was Always known as the country where you should be if you wanted to get out of Africa to Europe (which is not the case any longer).
