My sister and I are blood donors and this month I will be having my 5th blood donation while my sis is on her 6th. We believe that giving blood could save a life that is why we decided to do this more than a year now. :)

Doing blood donation is a good thing and it helps lot of people which need the help. And meanwhile i heard that it also helps your blood system to recycle new blood for you. It's nice of you to do that and really hope there are more such kind people in this world and making it better.

Yes, it does help in a healthier blood system. I do feel the same way, I hope that more people would also donate blood for those who need and would be needing it.

It's just a small act but I know it can help in big ways to people who needs it. It's always nice to share what you can give to other people and be used as God's instrument to be a blessing to them. :-)

I think that is a great way to help others, and giving blood is a really good idea I see sometimes people who drive around in the country and look for new blood donors. There are already a group of regular blood donors in my country, but they are still looking for new blood donors and when they drive around in the country they tell people about their work and encourage new people to become blood donors. I am not a blood donors and I don't think that I will ever become a blood donor because I take antidepressants. I will probably continue to take them in the future, and because of that I am unable to become a blood donor.

Well, a blood bank needs to maintain a certain number of blood bags everyday so as to be prepared in emergency cases where a lot of blood is needed. Moreover, there are also different blood type and there are blood types that have more blood donors compared to others that is why some people still try and find donors. It's ok if you can't donate, there are still other means to help people. :)

That is so good fo you and your sister to do that. My daughter use to give blood alot I have to ask her if she is still doing that. Let me ask you what are the criteries to giving blood? I remember years ago a few times I tried to give blood but they claimed I was not the right weight. I was definitely below 120lbs. Could you let me know the weight and any other issues that decide if you can give blood or not. Thanks!

Wow! That is so good. You and your sister are lifesavers, and I think somehow it's a good way of bonding for both of you. Also, I heard that donating blood is also good and healthy for one's body. The company I work for organizes a yearly blood donation program. However, I'm a little scared of needle and blood so I couldn't get myself to sign up for that program. But even if I get the courage to sign up, I don't think I'll be a healthy blood donor because I'm a little anemic.

Yes, anemic people are not good candidates for blood donation since it would imply that your blood is low in red blood cell which is responsible for carrying nutrients and oxygen to the body. If you say that you have mild anemia then that could be easily corrected, you may want to consult your doctor about that. I was once scared of needles too, but got over it.And yes, it is healthy to one's body donate. :)
