Ever Eaten Lebanese Guacamole?

Yes, you read that right. Ever had "Lebanese Guaamole?" Last week at the market Walker bought some stuff from a Lebanese friend of ours who has a booth there on Saturdays. It was marketed as "salsa" but it reminded me more of "gazpacho" (sp?) and evidently was supposed to be eeaten as such. However, she labeled it as "salsa" so that those unfamiliar with Lebanese food had a better idea of the ingredients. It was nice and chunky, but had too much liquid in it to really be effective for dippping. I ate most of it, and then suggested to Hubby that he save some of the stuff for our weekly Guacamole. He made it as he usually does, and instead of adding regular salsa, he added some of the Lebanese stuff. Was it EVER good!!! The stuff has a lot of garlic (we're really going to stink in the morning!!!) big chunks of tomatoes, onions, and some other things I can't quite pinpoint, but it came out wonderfully. This is how he plans on making it from now on, and I'm glad. We both really love it, and we're able to support another friend of ours from the Farmers Market. We already buy the avocados there, so why not the salsa? :) This is interesting, because tomorrow Walker and I have another get-together with our Muslim friends at the Lebanese restaurant in Kitchener.

I have never put sour cream in my guacamole. I must try it some day, but it is not an ingredient that I have often at home.

I have only eaten the normal guacamole. I think that that must be something else, but can be very yummy. I wish you would discover the ingredients though. The word salsa can be applied to a lot of things. I love garlic, so I wouldn`t mind that. What sort of salsa do you usually put in your guacammole? I only use avocadoes, tomato, hot pepper and oil, salt and pepper.

I think it is hard to go wrong with guacamole of any kind. I bet the Lebanese salsa was very fresh tasting. Perhaps it had cumin in it? You are fortunate to have so many international food options.
