Asking Donations

Philippines

Well I was riding the bus and there was this self-called "missionary" in the bus handing certain papers asking for donations. Then after giving it to every passenger, he started preaching and saying many things which include certain verses in the bible about loving your neighbor and helping other people but I can really sense it would just end up asking for donations and I personally think he just somehow using those words to reason out his intention. One more thing, I always see those people asking donations from bus passengers. What do you think?

It is better to give our donations to the proper body where we trusted than to these people on the street. I will never put my trust to these people and there is no assurance as to whether the money collected will be put to good used.

I encountered these a few times back in Manila. I just would give anyway because whatever they do with the money, it's their karma. Some missionaries like that may just be faking it and it's easy to print out pamphlets to make them look like a legit missionary group.

I also do the same at certain point but if I do not feel like giving, then I would prefer not to give instead of forcing myself to.

I also encounter such kind of situation, one time i ask them about why they are asking for donation, i find out that, they don't have salary, they money they get from their collection is they money they use for their travelling, for foods and other expenses for their preaching, it seems that the organization they belong don't have enough fund for that kind of activity. Sometimes i gave donations to them, for the sake of their effort and sacrifice in spreading the word of God, sometimes i listen what they are preaching for i don't have enough time to read the bible.

If we have to give donations why don't we just give it straight to the church. The motives of these supposedly missionaries are questionable since as far as I know, the Church does not send people to solicit for donations in the streets or public transport. it is the Church that helps the less fortunate and not the other way around.

There was a time that these people reached our place and yes they do the same thing as you mentioned. Well, I don't know why they stopped already. I do not encounter them anymore this time. Actually, I have some doubt on their motive but I cannot judge them though. I gave donation to the church which is the proper authority.

i also experience that when i was riding the bus there is a missionary preaching in the bus and i think they memorize the words that they say because i was reading the papers that they gave to the passengers and then i asked myself why they are solicit a donation? they didn't not trust our God? why didn't they not asked God for what they need? i just blotted in my mind and gave a little donation. maybe doing that things can also glorify God by sacrificing there strength giving solicit to the people.

Sorry but I never give a cent to those who are doing such things. We have charity organizations and registered missionary houses where we can drop and bring our donations without any doubts. Or we can buy some thing we want to donate and bring to any orphanages around the country.

Even though they are seems to be preaching but we do not how genuine they are and what are their intentions. Besides, we will never know what they will do with the donations. I will never give donations in this manner. There is a proper place we could give our donations to and we will be certain where the funds goes to and for what purpose.
