Campaign Jingles..Sound Corny

Philippines

Last discussion, I shared about the campaign posters making the environment looks dirty. Now, let's talk about noise pollution. I heard in almost every corner of town the different campaign jingles of the candidates for local positions. Some uses the famous dance music like Gangnam Style, What Makes You Beautiful and many more. They tried to fit it the name of the candidates in the lyrics of the songs even it sounds awkward. I was annoyed and found it too corny to use such dance music in their jingle. What about you fellow mylotters, are you annoyed with such jingles and found it corny too?

In my country, most of local candidates do not make jingles, but they hang some campaign posters at everywhere, so the environment in each corner looks dirty. But they will clean all the posters after the time of campaign was over. Fortunately, they release them and the environment clean.

In our place, I really doubt if they are going to clean the said posters and stickers posted on walls especially when they loose the election.

that is true, you cannot find them in the road cleaning their trash after the election.

Same with the candidates in our place. We are lucky if we ever see the face of the candidate as well the supporters after the election is over. They will never give a care to clean up all the trash they have posted on walls and trees.

My house is located near the streets where all of these candidates with their megaphone so loud keep on banging in my ears almost everyday. Even in the earlier morning you can hear those "corny" and annoying jingles of the candidates which they use for the campaign. I wish it will soon end.

I think this campaign will still run before the election. Oh, it was already April and we will suffer from hearing such jingles few weeks more and the place will be silent again.

I hate those jingles but my annoyance of them keeps me awake especially in the heat of our summer. I wonder of they even bought the copyrights - the artists would like to have the fruits fo their labor. I agree that it sounds awkward. I would bet that some candidates would just pick a tune and somebody will have the problem of doing the whole thing. I won't be attending any proclamation rallies (unless they pay me) and see them with their 'moves'. But if their jingles might incite rain, I might welcome it.

This is one topics me and my wife discussed about. Who sang the songs and they get any permission or copyright of the song especially to the composer. Yes, candidates will just pick the song that can be easily remembered by the voters even their names could not fit to the lyrics, they will still do some move to get their names mentioned in the entire song repeatedly.

That is part of the strategy that a candidate can do in order to win on the coming election. You can really feel the noise because of the running vehicles playing those songs. I think I don't hear songs in the tune of Gangnam Style here in our place. I remember PSY made a pronouncement that this song cannot be used in any form without their permission. So maybe hat is the reason why they refrain form using this song in their campaign jingles. Anyway, what will happen if that would be the basis of selecting the right person for the position?

I know that these are part of campaign strategy. Just like what you said, what will happen to the town if they will select the candidates just because of the songs they played. My answer will be simply NOTHING!

Yes jingles are so corny, and sometimes when we are sleeping in the afterrnoon, we can here some jingles and we will wake up because it is too loud. But we know that is part of there campaign p.

Yes, I know it is part of their campaign strategies. However, there should be also guidelines in terms of playing the sound. The situation you cited will make everyone irritated. Imagine, you are on your sleep and suddenly you will be awaken by the loud sounds. Just like this morning. on our way to work, I saw one vehicle playing the jingle as early as 6am in a residential area wherein most residents are still on their sleep.

I am not that so annoyed because I know that they are just doing that for the people to not forget their names. Even how corny their jinggles are, I do appreciate their efforts to make that even how corny it is.

What really annoyed me is that they keep on playing them in places that supposed to be not like near churches, schools. Also, some played it early morning when many are still on their sleeps.

Yes it's very very corny. Sometimes its annoying to hear, I think they are NOT making justice to the song. But 'twas a good good because it really retains in my mind every time you hear the song the name and the candidate his/herself.

This is one effective way to make the voters remember their name. However, it was really annoying and seems to add noise pollution. What really makes me annoyed is when they keep on playing the song even in a place that supposed to maintain silence like schools, hospitals and churches.

I think it is really meant to be corny and "baduy" (not hip) but should have that recall among the masses. Annoying indeed, but hey, that is what sells.

i think this is what others might recall their names because of the songs that they will use. I think most politicians succeeded and wins.

Thank goodness I am too far from there to hear it! Like you, I also find them corny. Sometimes, I would even start to to hate the actual song simply because it would remind me of the way it was used for some candidate's campaign jingle. I know it seems so shallow of me, but if you keep on hearing the jingles tons of times a day you'll be irritated too.

I agree with you, sometimes, I tend to hate the original song just because they used it as jingle in their campaign which makes unfair to the original song. Like you, we are residing in a subdivision making it good not to hear such jingles every now and then.

like what i've said yesterday. it's so corny and irritating. like just a while ago 7 am in the morning, me and my son went to the rooftop to get some fresh air. suddenly, a cab was roaming the high way and playing a loud jingle. i couldnt imagine that there will be someone to play such jingles as early as 7 am!

That is one that really annoys. It brings a lot of disturbances as early as that time. I think COMELEC must also do guidelines on playing such jingles. There should be allowed time and place to play.

I agree with you. Campaign jingles are very annoying. It is just another immature way of campaigning. And not to mention --- It is old school.

Yes. But this really works. I was really annoyed for not making fair with the song.
