Have you upgraded to Blu-ray or do you still own DVD & VHS?

I still own a lot of DVD's but I love Blu-ray, in fact I've become a collector of Blu-ray & DVD though I only buy movies I love or movies I'm curious about A lot of people say that upgrading is too expansive, but actually Blu-ray has been around for quite a while now & you can get them pretty cheap these days, I buy used quite often & in new like condition, I also got a streaming Blu-ray player dirt cheap under retail & it still works quite well after 3 & a half years of use Blu-ray looks amazing on an HD model TV especially sci-fi & other fantasy type films the picture is usually very crisp & sharp also the sound quality is great depending on the type of connection & TV you have I recommend using an HDMI cable to connect your Blu-ray player to your TV because HDMI gives a Blu-ray player the best play back performance that said AV cables are still useful for certain low grade DVD's because certain DVD's don't upscale well in a up-scaling Blu-ray device. What are your thoughts on Blu-ray & have you upgraded yet?

I still own a dvd players in my home. I would like to upgrade to Blu-ray, but for now its not affordable for me. I am happy that dvds are still coming out when new movies come out. I have a dvd player and a tv/dvd player in my room. I am happy with them. Just to see movies is good enough for me. I won't ever go back to VHS. I hate that the videos don't last very long and hate rewinding them.

Well whenever your ready you should check out ebay or maybe both Amazon, I purchased my Blu-ray players on ebay for only $39 bucks & even got a 1 year warranty but my player still works great after almost 4 years of use The player can even go wireless it streams Netfilx & other services the player retails for around $100 but I got it for pocket change, also I paid only $3.00 bucks for my latest Blu-ray disk

I don't own a Blu-ray player, and I'm not sure that I plan on buying one anytime real soon. I own a DVD player and VCR. I still have a tone of VHS tapes and I own a ton of DVD's. I don't see the need to own a blu-ray player as of yet. I mean I'll probably upgrade eventually, just not yet. Often blu-ray movies are more expensive than DVD's. I have seen the price of the players go down, and the movies are starting to get cheaper as well, but they are still more expensive than DVD's. I have an older DVD player and haven't bought a new one yet even though it acts up on occasion. I may just end up buying a blu ray player when my DVD player completely gives out. It really just depends on price. I have a child so my priority is to save money wherever I can even if it doesn't seem like it's that big of a difference it is.

Many of my Blu-ray movie disk cost me under $10.00 dollars in fact my latest Blu-ray cost me only $3.00 dollars pre-owned with case & art work in tact I was able to get a pre-owned Blu-ray player with Netflix & Blockbuster, Pandora for Under $40.00 it's one of the top brands, I thought I would not be able to afford one either until I did my research & realized that Blu-ray device are a lot cheaper then they once were Though I understand how it is you have a child & you have to spend carefully I respect that, I'm definitely not wealthy though I don't mind splurging whenever I can only after all of the important stuff is taken care of, then I save a little for something nice, also keep in mind Blu-ray players are great if you can't afford cable you can even watch youtube on some of them for free & free Pandora streaming depending on what type of player you buy I think it can be a smart investment for what Blu-ray devices can do Blu-ray disk have amazing picture quality it's really crisp & sharp, the disk look like standard DVD but they play in HD format you can also play all your old DVDs & music disk, & Blu-ray players can make those disk sharp & crisp too.

I had VCR longtime ago and does not have now. I think blue-ray disks are getting popular now. I have DVD in my computer and used to watch movies on it. I do not have any blue-ray disks and has not upgraded to it.

Well if you ever decide to buy a Blu-ray player be sure to search carefully & look for the best deals & don't be afraid to buy pre-owned models because you can get those dirt cheap, just be sure that you purchase from a respected seller.

I recently bought a Blu Ray Player and have a few movies to play. I'm not planning to get rid of my DVD's, as have so many that its not affordable to buy all of them for my new player. There are so many brand new movies I can get on DVD for a couple of dollars and so will continue to buy some on DVD. I don't buy any movies on VHS and have been slowly replacing all of them with DVD or Blu Ray depending on what is available in my area. I'm still regularly playing some of the older VHS Tapes and hope to get the rest of Perry Mason a television show on DVD.

Keep your DVD's they play great on an up-scaling Blu-ray player & if you ever feel the need to get rid of them you can always sell them on ebay for extra pocket change, but until then keep on enjoying them, I still have a lot of standard DVDs that I still enjoy & I hope you get the rest of those Perry Mason eps.

I wished to wait until we could buy a recordable blu ray but my husband rushed a little but and bought the simple one. It is good and the image is really better than dvd. We still have a dvd player and a vhs somewhere but almost don't use. We still rental dvds cause it's cheaper.

I have a DVD player that records.. and I have done it.. but recently tried again, and couldn't make heads or tails of the manual instructions. But I have all my family movies on VHS...so unless I copy them to DVD... I have to keep a VHS player. I have 3...just in case!

I still buy standard DVD on occasion because their a bit cheaper & my Blu-ray player can up-scale them to almost Blu-ray quality so DVDs are still worth buying, thanks for sharing.

I have a whole stack of VHS tapes in 4 large stackable cases but just like you I only keep them for sentimental value, I still have them in their original box & they are in like new condition, but I don't own a VHS player anymore either I own 1 regular DVD player but I don't use it as much anymore I prefer my Blu-ray player over the standard player now.

The deal is that you have to have good vision to appreciate Blu-ray and with 2 of my roommates being visually impaired, we don't see any point it getting one. DVD works just fine for someone who can't see colors or can't see at all.

I have just gotten all my favorites on DVD from VHS!!!! No, I am not going to start replacing them all on BlueRay! I have found that a BlueRay will play regular DVD's but a DVD player won't play BlueRay so the only thing I am planning on doing is getting BlueRay player...less than $50...and then I will be covered!

You can play all your old DVD's on a Blu-ray player & the player will make those DVDs look great & there are also Blu-ray player that can record though the recordable BR devices cost a bit more, thanks for sharing.

I don't have a blu-ray, mpr dp O jave am VJS vodep. pr tje [;auer/ O a, mpt [;ammomg pm i[gradomg tp b;i-rau at tjos to,e. as O fee; tjat as ;pmg as tjeu sto;; ,ale DVDE's, I will stay wit them. My tv isn't a high definition either, which is what a blu-ray should have to play the discs. My tv works great and so I don't feel like upgrading it either. I am content with what I have at the moment as I just can't afford to do so at this time. Take care, and have fun in mylot.

I've recently bought a Blu-ray player and I must say I'm very pleased with it.The picture quality is crystal clear and it looks better than what I get from my Dish TV. The size of a Blu-Ray disc however is very big and I can't backup them on my PC because sometimes a single movie is of around 50GB.I'm planning to buy a blu-ray drive for my PC too.And I never had a VHS!
