sms through yahoo messenger

i do send sms via cellphone to cellphone in india, to my husband jose and also to my dear friend the professor. and since I am not computer savvy, i do not know how to send a free sms which has been a topic here in several discussions.
so i tried because the professor said it is easy. he gave me instructions on how it is done. even sent 3 messages today and it all came through in my computer. previously, he was complaining that it does not reach the person he sends it to. and he sent an email complaining it. now he can again. so i got curious. i said to myself, why not? if it is free anyways then much better.
so while on chat, the professor taught me what to click in the computer to be able to send. i had his name registered and his mobile number. when i sent though, it would not reach him. 
we both are wondering. can anyone tell me what is happening? or is there a better way to check this out or correct any mistake in the registration? guess help is much needed..

hey there..why don't you try for this site www.way2sms.com it's absolutely free to anyone and you can send many messages to any mobile number through out India. and even you can save the contact numbers like in a mobile. Even it is giving the facility of Gtalk and also Yahoo messenger and u can chat with your friends there itself..try once and i'm using it since 5-6 yrs..freely..even you can view the sent messages..let me know..you have to sign up which takes hardly 2 min.

I have investigated this and found that these services tend to compromise security and/or the webpages simply won't load. What I have now is a service here in the UK that has a charge for each text, but it is half as much as my mobile phone service would provide. The URL is http://cardboardfish.com (not an affiliate link)- You may need to put a minimum amount on there via paypay, but it is much cheaper and easier way to send texts directly from your computer. _Derek

Now there are additional problems, sms does not go, even the off lines, i leave in YM fails to show off at other end.

That used to work for me. But somehow, lately I am not able to send sms via yahoo. Must be some glitch.

Hi there...
Even I have faced the same thing. There is some limit to send messages on yahooto mobile...
You can try way2sms, its free, just you need to register once...
Or if you want to earn while sending messages, then join ultoo, my bro is earning Rs.3 per day by just sending messages and answering polls... If you want, you can try.

I think most probably the number of sms that can be send are limited in yahoo messenger and that is the reason for not able to send more sms.

wow thats a good help . yes when its free why not use it. But as of now i am not using any yahoo messenger . I am using the sms offer provided through the network i feel its more comfortable.
