A Surprise Birthday party

United States
April 10, 2013 7:38am CST
The other day was my Mom's 66th birthday. I talked to her through ym and asked if she have plans on her birthday. She said naaah no plans at all. And shes not even planning on celebrating it. Just a simple dinner she said. So i decided to have a surprise birthday for her. I contacted my brother and sisters to buy foods and all that. And make sure that my nieces and nephews will be there as well. So the day on her birthday, I talked to her again and she had no idea to what will happen. Around 5, my brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces went to her house with all the food and stuff for her and she was soo surprised. I am glad that I made her happy on her bday. Even though I wasnt there to celebrate it with them (because Im so far away), I still manage to talk to them through video calling :)

Wow! you indeed did such a nice thing. Your mom must be so happy with all the surprises she got. Sometimes our elders do not let us know what they actually need, it is we who have to force those things to them. And they realize how much we know them and love them. Your mom is a lucky lady. I am sure she must be so happy with everything you did to her. Does she know that this plan was yours?

Awwww, that was just so sweet of you! And you weren't even there but you were in mind! It was fantastic you got everyone together and I'm sure she had just such a nice surprise on that day. My birthday was recently too and we just celebrated it at my daughter's house. I also turned 66. We had a great time and I love getting together with everyone, plus the day was nice and warm so we could sit outside and enjoy.

I am sure that your mom really loved the surprise. You know how our elders feel when they are at that age. They would not want to disturb anyone and just hope that something good comes up.

That's a very touching way to celebrate your mother's birthday. Too bad you weren't there to celebrate with them but I am sure that God willing you will be able to be with them on another of her birthdays. I am also far away from my family now and my mom's birthday will be about 2 months from now and I feel a bit sad that I wouldn't be there for her. But I am sure that I can come up with something to make her birthday extra special.

I so love surprises! I love making and being surprised. But kudos to you blueebutterfly29, you still managed to organize the party without being there. Ha! I also liked your idea of crashing to mom's house instead of bothering her to leave home. And for that, can I borrow that idea? Hehe! Mom's birthday's coming too, I would like to do the same. Hehe! Thanks for sharing! :)

you are really a good child.your mum must be very happy that day.comparing with you,i am ashamed as i haven't ever plan a birthday party for my parents, even gifts for them.i constantly think they love me without any complaints.i am wrong.they also have rights to get their children's love. now i learn a thing from you,i will give a call to my mum and dad,and say i love you.

Aww thank you! I just really want to give her a good birthday coz I know she misses us (the sibling) being together. And she's alone now too, I mean my dad is in heaven already so I know she needs it and she deserves it. :)

I think those are the best birthday parties! The ones that are un-planned, very simple, and with family. It's great that even though you're far away, you've managed to do this. And I'm sure your mom really appreciate it.

Such a nice day you have done for your mom even though you are far away. Your mom must be very happy with what you have arranged for her . She will be the happiest person on that day where she could meet up with her children and grandchildren. This is the best present you have given her .
