I now it is because of how i eat, i chew food so slow and the dentist said that it causes my food to become acidic and it destroys my teeth, but i just can't help it. I cannot change the way i eat, since i feel like i am chocking if i try and eat fast. And filling in the teeth is quite expensive too, should i just eat less then? Or just drink stuff and not chew?

I'm no expert, but I would have said it's good for your system to eat slowly; and that wolfing food down is bad for you. But I would never say you should eat less: you need to eat, and if you eat slowly, then so you do. And just drinking liquids would not supply the nutrition you need, and your health would suffer. I'm sorry your teeth are suffering: I've had a lot of teeth trouble myself in recent years. I now have had five teeth extracted. A further tooth only has about half of it left, and has a very large filling. Last year, I had extensive root canal treatment. Sad to say, tooth decay and tooth problems are a fact of life. The only advice I can offer is...take special care of your teeth. Clean them very carefully maybe twice a day, and use dental floss. Also eat foods that strengthen the teeth. Good luck.

Thank you for best response! I think if you look after your teeth as you have promised yourself, your teeth will strengthen, I hope so anyway :)

Yes, that is what my doctor has advised me to do too, to clean my teeth very well and floss it.. I am currently trying my best to chew my food faster but still chew it thoroughly, and i am brushing my teeth even more thoroughly... I hope that works.

I would think that it would help if you brushed your teeth right after eating, it may help. If brushing isn't possible swishing warm water in your mouth should help at least until you can brush. I'm no dentist.. lol but it seems to make sense to me. Good luck.... I only have 6 of my own teeth left.. the rest are fake..lol

I guess i can do that, or at least floss it.. so some of the food stuck in between my teeth can be lessened. I shall try to do that, thanks for the tips. I plan to keep all my teeth, which is why i shall do my best to keep them healthy from now on.. i just hope it is not tool ate.. my mom has less than left 10 too.

I too think that you should brush your teeth more instead of eating less. If brushing more than once is difficult than I suggest you use chewing gums which normalizes the pH level. Eat more and eat slowly because it's good for health. It helps digestion.

I only brush my teeth twice, or even once since i am a bit lazy- but now i am trying to brush them 3 times a day and i spend more time brushing too , making sure every tooth is clean.. if that's even possible.

Because you chew your food slowly? How weird. I only have about 12 teeth left. I was never taught to brush when I was a kid. Now I have lost so many, and soreness all the time. Wish I could go to the dentist.

yeah, if only the dentist was not so expensive. I really hate going to all kinds of doctors because even a check up costs a lot.. The dentist said that when food stays too long in your mouth and mixed with saliva, it'll become acidic which destroys the teeth.

Sounds about right. Your digestion starts in your mouth.

I never knew that chewing slow turns our food acidic. I am acidic and now I know one reason- I also chew my food slow (sometimes) I also need to visit my dentist soon- maybe I am now ready for fake dentures

I guess it does make sense.. Since the foods get mixed up with the saliva- and a chemical reaction happens.. and the longer the food stays in the mouth, the more it gets stuck on the teeth. Having fake dentures is a pain indeed.. which is why we have to save our teeth..

You should treat the cause and not to lessen the food that you take. Your body needs as much food as needed. If the cause of your rotting teeth is due to your way of eating, then change that way.

I am confused with what the dentist has said. We've been thought that eat slowly, chew your food well etc. then how come that's now not true? Don't eat less. It's not at all good for health. If you can't change the way you eat, best brush your teeth soon after having your food. Also, avoid few foods that causes damage to your teeth. Here is a blog about that:
Here are 7 foods to be avoided teeth that cause a negative impact on the overall health of your teeth.

You should choose a toothpaste that is specially formed for sensitive teeth. You could brush you teeth so many minutes after eating. It might be after 30 minutes. You might like drink soya liquids. You could eat as fast as you usually do. Good luck.

The dentist did say that when the food stays too long in your mouth and mixed with saliva, it'll become acidic which destroys the teeth. And if you do not brush your teeth well, then food will continually be stuck in the teeth.
