Hello Friends Just few days back I was searching for few documents and I got last bill for servicing my car. It was 6 months old from today. WEll, as per meter reading if I count I/We have drive around 5000 KM in this past 6 months.. Well, I guess it is more. But if I count it in compare of my cousin it is nothing. Well, even I thinks that I don't drive my car more. So what about you? What is your car meter reading saying? Or you prefer other transportation by putting your own car aside?

I am living in a center of a town where I can do all my shopping near my home, and if I take my car, I can hardly find a parking place for it when I come back. I use it only for travels for my job, and I drove 12000 km only last year. I asked myself if it would not be better to sell the car, take the public transport or rent a car when I need to go far. I have not decided yet, but I am sure it would be more economical, due to the low number of km traveled every year.

Wow.. WEll, 12000km is still quite more in compare of mine. But yes they are still low numbers. Well, I would suggest that keep the car and not drive unless you really feel or need. Why to sell? It can be helpful to you anytime.. who knows?

If I add the loss of value and the insurances, it would be more profitable for me to rent a car when I need one instead or keeping it. What stops me, is that my car is within reach, and that, even if I can rent a car with internet, I would have to walk 1 km to get it...

We use our car only when we need it like going to some place jointly or during our personal time. But for others, I use public transport only, even when I have to go to work, it would be public transport. So I can say if I count it in compare of you, it is nothing, you drive too much. And your cousin must be toooo much

Since verything is rather close where I live so I don't put a lot of miles on the car. Having my own is convenient, I don't like traveling on the public transportation anymore.

I just sold my car and decided to use that money to hire a cab to take me to the Metro. As for parties at night. I pack a toothbrush on my pajamas or see if someone can take me home after the party.

Hey akp, I'm currently in London on a study abroad program. As such, i don't drive here, i take the tube to almost everywhere. However, back home in Singapore I do drive and it has been about 3 years since i first got my driving license. As I do not own my own car, i drive my dad's car whenever i need it. As such, i do not know the exact mileage i drive. Upon saying that, my dad drives a lot. He likes to drive around to find him friends and to meet up wtih people. As for me, i definiltey prefer driving as a form of transportation because it is just more convenient and I do not have to squeese with people on the train in singapore. Furthermore, it is extremely hot in my country all year round and it is much more comfortable to get around with a car. However, i do understand that driving around is not a very good thing for our environemtn.

Hey akp, i know what you mean. In the beginning when I first got my driving licence, i was so extremly excited and i super love driving and i really wnated to drive everywhere. HOwever, now that it has been a few years already. I feel it's really kind of boring. I would much rather to be driven by someone else. Furthermore, I'm really stress about driving now becuase my dad has just changed to a bigger car and i'm really stress that i'll scratch the car or bang into something.

Well that's true.. Sometimes those transportation like tube is also great and fun way of traveling. Well, I don't drive too much, but yes whenever we are moving together for some journey my dad and uncle used to give me driving after I learned it. So I feel quite boring now. In starting it was exciting but now its no more.

I drive everyday, without fail. For me, it's more convenient to have my own transport. I can go anywhere at any time I want. The only problems I am facing are the jam and finding the parking.

So you love traveling and driving as well.. Good to hear that. Well its true that these days lots of traffic and jams are big cache. And yes there is always problem of parking in the city area. But I prefer bike in the city area so not much problem on bike. But yes car can be big headache on anytime. So how about long journeys? do you go for often?

He he.. So it is like schedule.. Well, that feels boring to me, but yes no choice. Well, what about sunday?! No holiday on that day either?! Well, here I used to go for long journeys in the car. In our family now everyone just used to give me car to drive whenever we go out. And yes it feels really boring someday.

Love it? It's like I have no choice. I have to take my kids to and from school everyday and then sometimes they have school activities in the afternoon. And I drive to work in the mornings and on Sundays, I drive to church. I think the only day that I can rest from driving is Saturday (not every Saturday, though) but sometimes I do go shopping for sundries on Saturday cause that is my almost free day. No, for long journeys, like maybe out of town, I prefer to take the bus or someone has to drive me instead. Then I can relax.

Hello there. I have a blue car that has five doors. My young children have each got a children's safety seat in the rear seat of my car. I drive my car typically three or four times a week. I drive around 8,000 miles a year I believe. I also use the train and bus to go to appointments a long way away. In a normal week I fill my car up with 40 pounds of petrol per month. Last year going to Cornwall I used up very much more petrol.

Well, that;s sounds great. I know that you love traveling, at least it seems like that from your discussions. He he.. Well it is good. Even I enjoy the traveling but sometimes it feels boring when I have to drive. In my family I have to drive the most so can't do anything either.

Well, I do not travel this much by my car. Its nearly 3100 Kms after a year and a few months. If possible, and If I have to go myself, I have at times taken Auto, Bus or Metro train.

Well, That's good way too. And 3100 km in a year is really less. But I know not all people love to drive more. Even I don't like to drive more, but I have no choice. As in our family whenever we went for any kind of trip, all people just give me to drive. So no escape. Sometime it feels really boring.

Drive a lot, near of far (hehehe) Too lazy to walk or use public transport especially during summer (duh) Driving our own car is more convenient, less hassle and more comfortable for me.

I am agree with you on that. In summer it is really hard to travel in public transportation with lots of rush. I hate it. But sometime can not avoid it either. he he.. But yes driving in our own vehicle is the best thing at such time.. Sometime I used to get bored from driving when I have to do lot, but surely it is better than public transport in very hot temp.

Hiya bro I dont have a car. I have a bike which today is not used for any big drives. I can barely drive today as medically I have been said NO to drive. Still, I have that bike and do occasional driving - just to be in touch with my passion. Earlier, I have driven log distances on bikes - longest being 1280 kilometers - from Allahabad to Bhubaneswar in 2003. I love to drive specially just after the drizzle or even on the marine drive or if nothing goes, I would love to take my bike on the highway and drive 60-70 kilometers. I remember the night of 31st Dec 2005 when I had driven off to Puri at 3:00 am in the morning to be present on the sea beach on 1st Jan 2006 Morning to see the sunrise

Hi bro.. Seen you here after long.. Missed you. Yes I have heard about your big journeys on the bike, and that's really great that you were doing such long distance travelling on the bike. I have always feel it hard when I tried it. I have travel around 180 km on the bike couple of time and I felt it really hard. I wish your health gets better and you will able to enjoy your bike passion again. ;)

A Lot! almost 90-120 km a day. Sometimes it feels good and sometimes it feels tiresome. If we go per my milometer it reads more than two lacks in three years and four months..

Hi SJ Well Driving car is good. About metros I have no experience of it as here there is no service like that. But I have heard that in Delhi, traveling in metro is good one to avoid traffic and it is also comfortable. I would love to experience it once. Here bus is the main transportation service, and it is really uncomfortable when there is too much rush.

Hi AKP- I did not use my car more for a simple reason as I was out of town most of the time on official tours so whatever was use was my wife who used it local purpose. I used my car during my stay back home or while going to nearby places with family. Now I do not have any car for last one and a half year. I am planning to buy once I finish my assignment where I am going for almost an year .

Well, I hope you will get your new car soon enough. Have wonderful car. Well, for me even I don't used to drive more. But it not depends on me. I forced to drive by my dad or uncle. I mean whenever I go somewhere with them they always tell me to drive the car. That's the disadvantage of learning the car. I mean I have to do all their works which are driving related.
