So today I went to our favorite grocery. I was looking for spaghetti squash but they didn't have any. So I settled on summer squash. I got 2 big sized squash. This afternoon I was getting hungry around 3 pm. So I poked a knife in it like I would nuke a potato. I nuked it for 4 minutes and rolled it over on its underside and nuked it 4 more minutes. Then I split it in half, removed the seeds and put butter and salt substitute on it and done pepper. It was so good. Daughter lived it that way too. It's quick and delicious. Have you ever nuked summer squash? I have baked spaghetti squash. Is it good nuked? Please share anything you like on veggies and squash in particular. I don't like those little goose neck yellow squash. I like those nice big summer squash with the orange flesh inside. I know I shouldn't eat butter but its do good on it.

No, I have never nuked Summer squash. My favorite squash is acorn. They are green and round. I cut one in two, put some butter and brown sugar in each. THen pop it in a 350 degree oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes. It is scrumpuous.

I made a mistake. It's not summer squash, it's butternut squash. I don't like summer squash. Those awe those yellow things with the gooseneck ones. Yuck. I do like them fried though. I think I will fix my last one for supper tonight. I will half it with my daughter if she wants some.

I think that is another name for the one I like. I like it baked though. The Summer squash I gag on.

Sounds really nice here but, please do not eat anything that you should avoid. You've come a long way to throw it away by taking bad cholesterol food. I am sure you have a list of other choices than butter, so please choose wisely.

I want to go tomorrow and get me done butter buds. It's a sprinkle that shakes on food and tastes like butter. There is also a spray fat free butter also. I will get these. Thanks.

I no longer own a microwave. I don't miss it. Baking squash in the over doesn't take very long, and it has a much better flavor than if you "nuke it" in the microwave. I like for my food to be flavorful and healthy--things that microwaves undermine.

It was delicious to me. Lots of flavor. I would not get rid of my microwave. I don't see how cooking with radio waves is any worse than baking in a conventional oven. All cooking causes loss of some nutrients. I've read lots of stuff about it bring bad but I've also read that this isn't so. I'll not be giving up my microwave oven. A baked potato is just 6 minutes away!

Hi PQ Yes I have nuked squash many times and there are so many ways I had bought Acorn squash and the directions said to cut in half remove seeds, and 1/4 cup of water and place squash face down for 12 to 14 minutes depending on the size I was amazed at how good it did taste. I have not had spaghetti squash for a long time. Another tip I found out is to add cinnamon with butter and drizzle this on the squash, it is the only way my husband enjoys it.

I know that is tasty! I made a mistake. It was butternut squash I cooked in the microwave. I just cooked the other one and ate half. It filled me up.

I don't nuke any vegetables as I hold a policy against using weapons of mass destruction against any legumes, earth candy or flowering fruit, regardless their quality of life. I also don't want to absorb any radiation during my partaking of dietary pieces in the proverbial puzzle of vitamin consumption. I find the flavours and nutrients of the vegetables are held better when they are steamed, baked or boiled. A favourite of mine is steamed broccoli with butter and a dash of lemon juice. Nothing beats some boiled green beans and mashed potatoes either.
