Lost 6 lbs in February

When the year began, I weighed myself and was surprise that I weighed around 131 lbs from my usual 124 lbs. I blamed it on my binge eating during the Christmas and New year holidays. So I decided, to read in the internet south beach diet. I did so, because I have a friend who is into this and she is way thinner than me now, the fact that she just gave birth around 12 months ago. I started no to eat rice, only vegetables and certain fruits allowed during phase I of the diet. I thought I won't be able to do it since I am a rice addict. But after 14 days, my colleauges saw the change in my looks and in my weight. This inspired me, so now I seldom eat rice and carbs anymore. If I do, then I jog to loose the fat I might gain from eating carbs. I hope I could sustain this diet.

Hi Aileen, i have the same dilemma. I have gained so much weight and I blamed it on my binge eating during Christmas break... I could not stop myself from eating my favorite Filipino dishes that were deliciously prepared by my grandmother (my grandmother's sister). My weight before was 118 pounds but after attending several occasions such as birthdays, baptismal, holidays and family gatherings every weekends, I have gained a whopping 20 pounds. I do not want to go back to my old shape which is really unacceptable. I was overweight before.. I weighed around 155 pounds. My shirt size was extra large. I could not wear the clothes I wanted to flaunt. It was so depressing. I have this thought of changing my lifestyle asap as I do not want to gain more weight.. Lessening my rice intake is on my top list.

You can do it gracie, as even I procastinated before I really decided to be discplined about it. Even my husband encourages me because its what I want. Though at the office they raise an eyebrow on what I eat because they said that they can not last a day without eating so much. I don't care what they think as long as its right and make me happy.

I think that is fantastic! I've had weight issues all my life and am finally getting things straight. Lately, I've been taking appetite suppressants (off and on) but I am looking for a change. I have hard many things about the South Beach diet but thought it was a crazy fade (that's what I get for not doing the research). Since you have had great results I think I will actually look into this. I want to lose another 20 pounds and see how I feel after that. I will still be slightly over weight but its a start. If I may ask what type of exercise do you do? If any and how did you feel when you first started? Sometimes when people start new weight lose tactics they feel somewhat deprived.

I just jog or ran three times a week, for one hour. I felt deprived at first but you see, phase I of south beach diet is all about losing carbs from your diet for 14 days. But, you can eat small meals every two hours so as not to feel you are starving yourself. After 14 days you can slowly go back to carbs but still jus minimum intake only. There are even cheat days like weekends, where in I can eat dark chocolate but just a small bite.

Good for you! I think we all hit the point of "ok, I'm really gonna do it this time". And it's best to make lifestyle changes that will stick with you. In the past year I've lost about 35 lbs by just being aware of my weight and what i'm eating. I keep a close track of my weight and if I see the scales going up I make changes in what I'm eating. Nothing drastic, no severe dieting. Just little changes. I'm happy that I've been able to keep it off and am now hoping to lose more. Slow and steady wins the race.

Incredible!!That is a great accomplishment. I adore your discipline and focus on getting your weight back. That is awesome. I wish I had your determination and discipline when it comes to losing weight. I am really not good at it. I will do some exercise 3 times a week. Hopefully I can lose my weight..

I wish I have the control to eat less or eat what is necessary for me to lose this belly. =/ I'm just so darn lazy. =P I just hate this fat belly, but I'm not gaining weight even if I eat like almost every hour or two. I dunno., maybe its just my metabolism, but I really do hate this big tummy of mine. =)
