Don't use your car on a place wherein traffic congestion is common if not stay at neutral while waiting for the traffic light, changing gear from one to two is too costly for your gas consumption. Avoid doing a revolution wherein fuel is not properly burn. proper check up of your engine is also advise timing is very important. Your fuel injection pump must be properly observed including your radiator. All parts of your car must be on coherence to each of the other parts function.

I totally buy your thoughts and ideas. There is one more thing which should be taken care of, and that is the air cleaning filter. Clean air means smooth running of engine. One must also check the air fuel mixture setting of the car, which is very very important towards fuel consumption.

when you're driving, everytime you remove your foot on the gas pedal, you save gas. i have read somewhere that the 100-110kph at 5th gear consumes less. driving at fast speeds with constant changing of gears consume more fuel. whenever you're in a red traffic light or you need to stop during traffic, place the gear on neutral as this consumes less than when you have it on hang. remove excess weight from your car. some people have a habit of leaving unnecessary things in the baggage compartment. extra weight means extra work for the motor. shoot two birds with one stone. if you need to do some errands, ask if any member in your family needs something on the same route in order to avoid doing more trips. it is also important to have your car in top condition. change oil regularly, check the tires, alignment, etc.

Keeping your car in optimal condition is important. Service your car on time so its engine runs efficiently. Check the pressure of the tires, make sure they have enough air inside. Planning your journey will help save some petrol. If you have errands to run or need to do grocery shopping, try to arrange them on the same day.

Dear Tehpau, I appreciate your response. But I am looking forward for the tips which can result in reduction of fuel consumption in a normal single drive. Like, how one should drive his car so that it should consume lesser fuel.

Check for oil leaks, water leaks in radiator, and obviously check for gas leaks. Having any on of the leaks especially in radiator can overrun and overheat you engine witch causes more engine activity. And then change the oil if it has not been done in a while. One of the most important ones is to check the psi in your tires.
