Not sure that MyLot is for me

I just joined this site an hour or so ago. I have clicked on my different interests (and just recently discovered what that was for). I still am not feeling very comfortable with what I have seen on this site. What I mean about not being comfortable is this: I am a creative writer. I write poetry and short stories--fiction. From what I have seen so far on this site, it's all about articles and blogs. I am not really that kind of writer. I would much rather write that write about writing. Am I correct? Is MyLot only about writing articles and blogs? Does anyone share their creative work on here? If not, I'm guessing this site is not for me.

Thank you for the welcome. :) When I woke up this morning one of my first thoughts was of something I could write on here. ;) I may figure out how I could fit on this site yet.

Mylot is not so much of writing articles and blogs. Mylot is a space for discussions and contributions of ideas and comments from fellow members. If you are more in to articles and blogs, it is best to use Helium or Triond.

Well, as I said, I am not into articles and blogs. I am into creative writing. ;)

MyLot is a DISCUSSION site. Since poetry and fiction doesn't usually generate discussion, it may be better to look elsewhere for a suitable place to publish those. However, creative writers are also human (we hope !) and there's no reason why you shouldn't take part in discussions. In fact, the picture of life as seen in some of the discussions posted here might well lead to inspiration for your creative writing. MyLot has many uses besides the fact that one can earn a small amount for your participation. In fact, it is those who are members because they enjoy discussing anything and everything who tend to stay longest here (and earn the most).

Since poetry and fiction doesn't usually generate discussion I find that a rather silly thing to say, unless I misinterpret your meaning of "disscussion". Poetry and writing creates plenty of discussion.

Why not post your article of writings here, there are a lot of people here who loves to read article, poems, short stories real life and scifi. You have to try first so that you will know if it works or not.

We have discussions here. I like MyLot and a lot of people do. We enjoy it because we can have discussions about almost anything. Generally it is not used for creative writing and I am not sure if that is against the guidelines. I would read the guidelines and figure out if that is against the guidelines or not. Good luck.

I am a little confused because this is a discussion site. We discuss things about every day life here. I am not sure about the other things your talking about. MyLot is a great place to give and get advice, vent about things in our lives offline, and meet new friends from all over! That is what this site is all about!

Nope, as you probably know by now, Mylot is a discussion site. People from all over the world talk about pretty much anything under the sun. Ask questions, debate things, share experiences, etc. Okay, so there are some things we can't discuss, but if you follow the guidelines you shouldn't have a problem. http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx Speaking of guidelines there are a few outdated ones on there. For example, under the "Don'ts" it says not to share paypal accounts. You can see that it's been changed since then: http://www.mylot.com/nr/editaffiliations.aspx Also remember that all the guidelines are not hard and fast rules. Some of the veterans tend to forget or not even know that. Just use it at your discretion and you should be alright...if you decide to stick around, that is! I for one hope you will. It can have it's moments, but for the most part it it's a great place to be! Plus, here on Mylot you can earn money! (Just don't expect to get rich from it! LOL) Happy mylotting!

Hi Xstitcher, Welcome to Mylot. As the others have stated, this is a discussion site. It is not for creative writing or even articles and blogs. That is not to say that you could not enjoy yourself on here and as someone else mentioned, even pick up some inspiration. This just is not the place to post your creative writing . Hope you stick around though. We do have others who are writers here....you could do both.

As I know my dear friend, this site is for discussion, asking questions and commenting. As you say yourself as a writer, it is better to join freelancer site. I think this site is not for writers. Why don't you search here in the search option?
