Bad breathe?

My Mom's one cat has had bad breathe for years, my parents did nothing about it. Most time it's a sign of either stomach issues, or teeth. My SIL came over and looked at his teeth, his gums were so badly infected. He was sleeping and not doing much for weeks, yet noone did anything about it. He went to the vet Friday, and now has to get several teeth pulled, and clear this infection up. In the end it will end up costing them $800 minimum for it.

I am glad the cat is now in good hands. Unfortunately it will not be able to chew anything hard. That is a huge amount to pay though but when one loves an animal no amount seems big. We have had several occasions to spend for our pets but we do it willingly.

Wow! That's too much. It is really bad if you let an illness linger. It will cost a lot treating it.

Oh that poor cat. It must be in pain! Do you really think they will spend the money? From what you said, they act like they don't really care, anyway. I hope the poor little thing feels better soon.

I think they will seeing as supposeable this is her favourite cat and nothing can happen to him. But she will whine about it for awhile, but she left it so long now it will just cost even more money.

i don't think i would be able to save this cat, if it was mine. i don't have 800 dollars to spare. even if i have, i think it's a high price to pay. i'd rather donate this money on food and medicine for the hungry and sick children rather than keep a cat healthy. i know many animal lovers would be offended by this, but i still consider the lives of people more important than animals.

The biggest point about this discussion is the fact that if the parents had taken care of the problem early it wouldn't have cost them so dearly! The other point is that animal owners do need to make sure that their vets aren't taking them to the cleaners for the care of their animals. I have 3 cats and 3 dogs and do much of the vet work myself. I can't afford $800 for a problem either. But I also make sure that the cats and dogs are always in good health. I keep several different animal health books on hand so that I can check out their problems and deal with them before they get serious! Animals like humans can be maintained for a minimal amount if you exercise prevention rather than frantic care after the problem has gotten so serious. I agree about donating the money for hungry and sick children and adults, they are very important! I could really thump the drum about the lack of care and the lack of supplying the necessities for the homeless, poor and hungry.

oh my that is very expensive. Here most people do not really do that, i mean 800 dollars for some people here is worth a few months pay already..or can sustain a family for months! But i guess if you do have extra you can splurge on that, but i really don't i could do that personally... wow.

I did not know that animals also had bad breath. At times i do have this problem due to my sensitive gum issues. Dry mouth is also one of the reason I heard. Since I am facing this, I normally take extra care of my oral health. I rinsed my mouth daily with mouth rinse. Make sure I always sip some drinks or take Fisherman's friend's sweets etc. It did helps a lot.

Thats nice to know that someone like you cares about animals. Animals like people do needs to be taken care of. They also need love and assistance. The way you show to your pet, only means that your such a wonderful pet owner. Sometimes a joke goes with this situation that a person wishes to take the place of a pet for they are being taken care of. hahaaha... Have a great day!

Probably,I will not spend to much for a cat. Is it not that I really don't love cats but I am not just comfortable if there is a cat in the house where I am living. Besides, I am only earning enough for my living and I think I will get short if I have a cat to raise too.

Hi 911Ricki! I have to apologize but I was a little laughing in visualizing your cat without teeth. I haven't seen one so my imagination's really pumped up. Anyway, good to hear the cat's fine now and hopefully she can recover from teeth extraction effects/feeling. But you see, it wouldn't had happened if the teeth were properly cleaned. It is still "prevention is better than cure". Not only it can cause to your health but as well as with costs. Have a good day! :)

oh,poor cat.how is the cat now?is it well? i can't believe that pulling several teeth and clearing the infection up for a cat would spend 800 dollars.that's too expensive.i think that from now on your mother will take good care of her cats' teeth.otherwise going to the vet would cost her a big sum of money:)

I hàve never heard that animal lovers pay so detailed attentions to their cats. In my neighborhood I see some people have their pets but they just feed them. It is great to know that you and your family are really genuine animal lovers.

The poor cat had to be in a lot of pain. When you have pets you should take good care of them or not have them at all.
