Have you ever reported an inappropriate discussion on MyLot?

I have been posting here for a few years and during that time, I've had two of my discussions removed. One was when I tried to start a discussion on a new movie that was under development. Another poster told me that it was against MyLot's rules, although I'm still not sure why. The other was a case of censorship when I tried to start a discussion about one of my favorite sci fi authors whose last name is a short form for the name Richard. I can in part understand being deleted but I wasn't being cheeky and it is the guys last name. Recently though, I reported my first inappropriate discussion. This was one where the guy had only started the one discussion and he was openly looking for clients for his business. He had one response before I reported it. I think it's been deleted but I haven't actually heard anything from MyLot. So, have you ever reported anybody and can you say why so that I don't get into trouble? (Is this discussion against the rules?)

Yes, I have reported posts which I think are violating the rules here. It is part of our responsibility as members here. Only admin can take any necessary actions, but we are helping them by reporting and making them aware of violations. I don't expect to hear anything back from myLot about posts that I report. I usually just leave it to them once I've done my part.

The only time I have heard anything from MyLot is when one of my responses was deleted because the discussion was removed. It's been awhile since that's happened so I can't remember how the discussion was inappropriate.

I have been a member in Mylot for quite a long time. Even though, I haven't reported any discussions although sometimes I know they broke the rules of Mylot. One day I even saw a discussion which copied mine. I just let it be. I don't really want to report anybody.

If you see anyone copying something which you wrote and trying to pass it off as their own, that person is a cheat who is trying to defraud both you and MyLot and SHOULD be reported. We do not want or need people here who do that. If the discussion was simply very similar to one of yours, it was probably an innocent mistake, however. In most cases, you should remember that you are not reporting a person but merely something they have posted. It's our duty (as members who know and take care to follow the rules) to tell Admin about anything we see which is against the rules, just as it is our duty, as citizens, to pick up litter in the street when we can and to put it in the bin. Please help to keep MyLot 'tidy' and a good place for everyone to be in!

Up until now, I don't know that I've seen much copying. I did once see a discussion that seemed word for word like one I had seen previously, and my memory isn't THAT good. There are sometimes that I might try to re-start a discussion. Like I tend to try and start discussions under "Watching TV" where I complain about some TV commercials or discuss TV shows. That's not really copying though because there are always new TV commercials to complain about or new TV shows worth watching. One of my pet peeves, however, are cable TV networks here in the US that no longer show what they were intended to show. Like The Weather Channel running shows at night about Fireworks or Gold Mining. What do things like that have to do with the weather. People want to know what tomorrows weather is going to be not see shows about past weather disasters. I've actually found myself using my Roku to stream a weather channel just to find out a weather forecast. OH, well enough complaining. Sorry if I damage you eyes with it.

MyLot is a community, our community, and in the same way that I would pick up any litter on the path or the grass and would put it in the bin, I also report violations here, in the hope that it helps admin to keep the place clean and tidy. Plagiairts, spammers and cheats have no place here and if they earn with their garbage, then they are taking away earnings from honest users.

I have reported some discussions, responses and comments. The last "discussion" I reported consisted of two words: "Buy viagra". I have also reported some of the responses that I received when I started my own discussions. Sometimes I reported them because they contained referral links and sometimes because they were plagiarised. Some time ago I started a discussion and someone copied the sentences that I used when I started the discussion and just changed a few details. Another member copied an answer from Yahoo Answers and posted it as their response to my discussion It was easy to spot that one because I had read the original answer on Yahoo Answers some weeks before.

I did twice. The first time was when this member was just posting inappropriate comments. There were others who replied on that post that has gotten real mad. And within that day, that member was kicked out from the site.

This makes me think of two things, one of MyLot and one not. On MyLot I have what I am starting to think is a bad habit of looking at postings in Politics and sometimes posting a response. I consider myself a moderate but I get into problems posting in discussions with ultra conservatives. These are people who do things like compare Obama (or Franklin Roosevelt) with Hitler. When i try to point out the mistakes made by Ronald Reagan or Bush 43, I get vilified. I guess in life there is a second golden rule, "Don't argue with someone about politics or religion" because you can't win. The second thing I thought of was someone that I 'friended' on Facebook. This was a woman and it was back when I was excited about playing Mafia Wars and I was looking for as many 'friends' as I could find to do well in the game. Shortly after I added her, I saw that she wasn't playing the game as much and she seemed more interested in posting photos of her body parts and her various tattoos. As if that weren't enough, she somehow added me to a group where she and others we posting crude jokes and questionable photos. While I don't consider myself a prude, I don't really need to see that stuff especially if someone else might see it by looking at my FB page. I removed myself from the group and unfriended the woman.

Well, good thing that all the discussions here are being reviewed by myLot's administrators or whatever you call them. I haven't reported anyone who are starting inappropriate discussion yet even on my old account before. But if ever I found one I will definitely report it. This is one of the most well established website. There are thousands of members here that are creating discussions every minute. well I am just hoping that myLot will be able to manage checking all of them to prevent inappropriate discussions that might be posted.

burrto I wo ld really truly reread the guidelines as what yu cited as reason s for your posts being deleted simply are not valid. you broke one of the rules listed inthe guideline so go there and read or reread whatn not to put imcussion as there is nothing about inappropriate anything in the guidelines. they list the rules and do nots so read them first before reporting anyone. yes I have reported several but made damned sure they actually had made guideline violations.

I don't know that I can accurately recreate one of my deleted discussion starts but here at least is a summary. It was a few years ago when I heard they were developing a fourth movie in the Mad Max series from Australia. The original movies had helped make Mel Gibson a star but as he was having his well documented legal problems, I mentioned that it did not look like he was going to be in the new movie. I did mention that Nicholas Hoult was going to be in it. I knew of Hoult from the British show Skins and it was while I was researching him that I came upon mention of the Mad Max sequel. Where I may have gotten in trouble, was that I ended the post by asking a question something like "Are you interested in the new movie?" or "Will you see the new movie?". Next thing I knew, I got a response from someone telling me I violated the rules and then got an e-mail telling me my discussion was deleted. I'm still not sure what I did wrong. Yes, someone could respond with only a yes or no answer, which is a violation, but that was not what I expected. I was trying to see if anyone was excited that they were renewing the series, or if anyone would make comments about Mel Gibson. I never got to find out because it was deleted.

I would report if I encounter clear violation of the guidelines. I remember one time, I started a discussion and there was this new member who post a referral link every time a new response was posted. I was so annoyed that time. Well, when I checked my discussion the following day, the posts were already removed. Have a nice day!

Have you ever gone back to see if the post was removed or if the poster was kicked out of MyLot? I think you can often spot these people because they have very few posts.

Hello. I'm new here, but I also saw the same kind of inappropriate discussion. He put up a link for his business. There was no response yet, but I reported him anyway. I don't think it's against the rules to talk about this as long as we don't mention anyone. It's nice to talk about this because new members like me can understand and have a better idea on what's okay to post and what's not appropriate here in myLot. :)
