Well my friends here know I have diabetes, fibromyalgia, arthritis and a whole host of other ailments. My meds have been increased and I have to watch my self so that with this strong dosage I do not fall unconcious. I now have to see my nurse once a month I have to go for an appointment with the liver doctor - update I got the appointment for May 18th I have to go for a mammogram which will be done on thursday I have to go for a sleep apnea test - haven't called for an appointment yet I have to have a pap test, will be done at my next nurse's appointment and I have to go to opthamology just to be tested for neuropathy caused by the diabetes. that test will be done in June isn't life grand any thoughts?

I avoid the doctors. I have no insurance. Last time I went in was when I had that nerve damage in my wrist. I'm still paying that off. unless something is wrong, I won't be going to their store. It's like 100.00 just to walk through the door. I'm all set with avoiding that

Hi, I too am riding in the same boat as u and can well understand your frustration. A diabetic patient has to undergo too many tests. But in my country it is simple to get medical appointments. Though I visit Government hospital for getting treatment for my various ailments, but to save time, I get my tests done from private clinics. That way, within a few days my tests are complete. With so many diseases and so many medicines to be taken every morning and then at night makes one feel depressed, but this is life.

I cannot afford the private clinics but I get the tests done in good time I believe.

Ahhh the joys of aging! I don't have nearly the number of ailments you have, but I have been increasing the number of meds I have to take - now up to three scripts... I've actually been on more in the past, but some I let go because they didn't seem to help any, and while the doctors have in the past wished me to be on a few others, they didn't have corn-free ways to prescribe them. Seems that most of the people I know take a LOT more meds than I do, even younger people than me.

I like your attitude here. A lot of times people do not know just how important it is to have the right attitude and I can see that it comes with your facing your demons straight on in their faces. I understand that whatever you are undergoing is overwhelmingly daunting and it takes more than courage. You are exceptional, so do keep this up and fight it all the way. On your condition, I want to encourage you to seek Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to help you with your health management. See if there is a qualified Chinese Medicine practitioner near you for consultation, they will usually take your pulse and determine your condition and prescribe herbs that will complement your medication. Presently, this is what we are doing in China where we have 2 schools applied on complex illnesses and it is very helpful especially with the side effects of western medicine.

unfortunately I would not be able to afford it. I don't pay for traditional western medicine here in Canada

That is alot of stuff going on. Hope you can rest after it is all done. For me I get so tired and rather stressed just after seeing the doctor. Just being out around people is exhausting. I hope you get through it all okay. Yes, life is grand. Try to keep positive and take it slow.

Your list sounds like Josh's court dates. I called them his 'club dates' so I can laugh alittle. He has Two in March, Three in April, One in May and one in June. Ugh! And I need to get in to my doctor. Just so I can get my anti-depressants perschiption renewed. We get them for a year here and I am at 1 more refill. And I will get a talking to about not getting my mamo, and I need to do this and that. And I will refuse and that will be it for another year. Geesh!

It is never fun to visit doctors, go through a series of tests and take number of medicines. I am 31 years of age and have been living with rheumatoid arthritis since 10 years. I also have to go through blood tests, and I take around 4 medicines daily along with some weekly medicines. May all your test reports come normal. Wish you good health!

I hate having to go to doctors really but used to be more regular aad was not putting it off so much.

yeah but preventative medicine is the best medicine. If you catch certain diseases before they advance you save you health and a lot of money in the long run, but I do feel for you. I am so blessed that I don't have to pay anything.

People say its great when you finally retire and enjoy the Golden years. I don't see what is so golden about them. Its one doctor appointment after another. My parents are constantly going to the doctors. One doctor is for a regular checkup, other doctors are the heart doctor, skin doctor, neurologist. It is never ending for them. I don't wish this type of life on anyone. I hope all your appointments turn out good with no problems. God Bless!

If it is something that will make your health better, then you really have no choice. I am sure your family would want to see you up and about all the time.

Your life is full! I only have to see my pulmonologist tomorrow. That's a $40 copayment. I lost my end of life papers, my living will...so my Humana Cares is sending me another form for me to make out, get motorized and give to my docs and to the hospital whenever I go. It's so that I have the last word on my healthcare if I cannot speak for myself. My speech issues continue. Today was the worst because I to dizzy too.

I wish I could call you I miss talking to you on the phone. Yeah it is a lot all at once and you certainly can understand that. You have been through the ringers with hospital care and doctors appointments. I feel so bad that you don't have free care. I am blessed to have free health care and I thank God for that.

Well, seeing doctor means you have to be strong enough to face all your health problems and be ready for the medication and it needs a lot of money to be wasted just to get well. Just be strong and enjoy everyday that God has giving you the opportunity to live.

I know it is important to keep up with doctors' appointments. All my appointments are follow up medical check ups with gynecologist. However, I have not been seeing my doctor for a few years . I do not know why I just do not feel comfortable to see them. I know I am not making a wise decision.

if you are young you can get away with it but if you are older it is wiser to see your doctor regularly, You never knew if the doctor will see something that he or she can prevent from happening.

I have to take the high dosages, because my diabetes is very bad. The tests are to see if the diabetes have already attacked other organs of my body. One good piece of news i don't have hepatitis.

I'm too young to need a mammogram, thank goodness. From everything my mom used to tell me they are painful! I am way past due to get a pap smear test. I don't know when I'll do that but probably not soon. I need to see the eye doctor, but even though I'm on disability they do not cover vision or dental care. So if want my eyes checked I'll have to come up with some of my own cash. And that ain't happening for a while. lol Good luck on all your tests!

Thats the awful thing about getting older is that all these ailments occur at all and really affect our wallets and our quality of life. I hope you made it thru all those appointments and are still in ok health.

If you aren't following a healthy diet, your body will let you know. Improve your diet and increase your exercise, and you won't have to be on so many of those medications or have to see so many doctors.

Big hugs to you, winterose! Is there any truth to "an apple a day keeps the doctor away"? Sending a virtual big bag of apples out your way! Have you looked into alternative medicine at all?

no I would not consider endangering my health with alternatives. In combination maybe but if it cost money I can't afford it. thanks for the apples, but can you send me oranges too, that is what I need to take if my blood sugar goes to low.
