I keep thinking about air travel for next year

I like the sound of an airline journey that gives lots of stopovers so I could see several different countries on the same trip. It is London to Colombo to Bangkok overland Singapore to Delhi to London. New countries for me could be Sri Lanka, Thailand and India. I have already been to Singapore and Malaysia. I wish I could add on a side trip to the Philippines. This year due to it being 2013 I wish to travel by train. Even better I would like to make up my own journey with stopovers and ask a discount travel agent to price it up. I would choose low cost countries to spend less on accommodation. I am confused about India's visa rules. Therefore it would be best to see India once on the trip. Which airline route or journey do you fancy if you get more money by next year?

I am probably going to visit the Faroe islands and Iceland next year. I am going to travel with my husband and one of our close friends. We had talked about travelling to the Faroe islands and Iceland this summer, but our friend can't afford it this year and my husband and I spent most of our savings on the trip to Asia, so it is not realistic to travel this year. I think that we will be able to travel next summer instead I also think about a second trip to Asia. I would like to travel for several weeks and during that time I would like to visit Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and the Philippines, but it is definately not going to happen in 2014 (unless I suddenly win a lot of money )

Good luck making your trip to Iceland and the Faroe Islands happen. I understand it is not easy to save up for traveling for your friend. You and your husband spent already on your trip to Asia. Maybe you could do another trip to Asia in 2015. I am also longing to visit the Philippines. How economical once there did you find the different countries in South East Asia please? I know a long haul airfare costs loads and few places are cheap these days. It is not joyfully cheap like it was in 1990 to 1994.

I found both Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam very economical especially if you avoid the popular tourist areas and buy food etc in the shops that the locals use. In Bangkok we bought food and drinks for two people and we spent less than $3. In my own country one main dish often costs at least $15, so there was a huge difference between the prices in South East Asia and the prices in my own country. In Vientiane in Laos we managed to find a nice budget hotel. The room was very simple, but it was clean and we were happy to stay there. In Vietnam one hour in a internet cafe cost a few cents, I thought that I had misunderstood the price, but it was true, we only had to pay a few cents for one hour.

When I was in Barcelona in March, we thought the bill was too low all the time. I travelled with friends from Britain and Switzerland, apparantly Spain is a bit cheaper. We didn't find Iceland too bad either, but we didn't go to any real posh restaurants or stay in hotels. Had a wonderful car though *sigh*

I'm thinking about going to Japan next Easter. If I can take one day before or after Easter off, I'll have 1.5 weeks. Enough time to get to Japan and back and still have some time to see Japan. I haven't checked when Easter is next year, I should chose a year when Easter is at the same time as the cherry blossom. I was there once, also at cherry blossom time, and it was really wonderful.

Wow, so you are thinking about next year already! I guess travelling is in your blood, and I suspect you are already planning your next trip for when you return from your soon to arrive trip with your family. I think it would be more feasible if I flew to Sweden rather than to take a boat, I don't like either forms of travel that much, but at least the plane would be far quicker than the boat. Happy planning my friend!

I would like to go to England and when I get there, go on those mystery train trips, preferably through Wales.

Hi maxi, it is funny to see several countries on a same trip. But it is just birds eye view to see several places by stopovers. I hope you will enjoy Sri Lanka, Thailand and India tour. South India and Sri Lanka are mostly belong to same culture. Ethnically also they are from same race. But Thailand is quite different. From Myanmar to Japan people are belong to same race. They are mostly Buddhists. Exceptions are Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. The people of these countries are mostly Muslims.

Hi there. I hope you could really do a side trip here in the Philippines. There are so many adventures to experience and so much to see. As for your question, I would always choose either Japan or Europe. Europe seems to be a dreamy and fancy place plucked out of a classic novel, and it would be such honor and privilege for me if I could explore it. I would love to trek through Spain, France, London and England.

While I have been traveling some in the past few years, I have done most of my traveling within the United States and go from Point A to Point B. That is how most Americans travel within our country. I never even thought of going on a trip as your are describing. Explain it to me. Can you buy a round trip London to London and include different cities for one price? Can you get off at these different cities and stay as long as you wish, then proceed on to the next city? How do you plan such a trip? For instance, if I am reading your description correctly, you are going to fly from London to Colombo. You will get off in Colombo to visit, then fly from Colombo to Bangkok. You will visit Bangkok and then go overland to Singapore. You will then fly to Delhi and eventually fly back to London? Am I right? How do you plan something like that? Do you do it online? Do you go to a travel agent? Is it one price?
