Why are games in Australia so much more expensive than in America?

Australia

This has been on my mind for quite a while now and I would like to know! What's even worse is that if I buy a PS3 game in America and bring it back to my Australian PS3 it won't run D:

Hi Jesse, it's because our economy and average income per household is more than Amercia. Our ability to spend is a lot higher and thus retailers charge more for the same products. I recommend going to to find the cheapest prices.
Compare game prices from the best retailers. Find the cheapest game prices and best deals for PC, PS3, PS4, XBox One, XBox 360, Wii U, Wii, DS, 3DS, Vita and PSP

Income per household is 3k per household higher in the US than in Australia but we don't have GST which drives up the cost of everything. Be glad you pay a little more for games though. we more than make up for it with the ridiculous cost of healthcare. Not to make it political but your taxes pay for things that are outrageous when you have to pay for them yourself. Trust me, I'm a broke American.
