Why are games in Australia so much more expensive than in America?

This has been on my mind for quite a while now and I would like to know! What's even worse is that if I buy a PS3 game in America and bring it back to my Australian PS3 it won't run D:

PS4 NeRd Hi Jesse, it's because our economy and average income per household is more than Amercia. Our ability to spend is a lot higher and thus retailers charge more for the same products. I recommend going to http://www.comparegames.com.au to find the cheapest...
