Teddy Bear

Now then children, are you sitting comfortably? Yes? Good. Then I can begin. Once upon a time there was a very important man who lived in Great Britain. His name was Edward Heath and he was the Prime Minister. That means that he's even more important than anybody else in the country. He can get free burgers and ice cream whenever he wants. Well, Edward, shall we call him 'Uncle Ted', he loved to be the Prime Minister, but he wasn't very good at it unfortunately. In fact, Daddies and Mummies found themselves working fewer days a week - "Hooray" I hear you cry . "That means that they can have holidays and play with us." Well dears, that is true. However, it also means that they don't get paid and so they can't afford any more lovely things and holidays are one of them. Now before you all cheer up, let me tell you that he also told us that we ought to join the Common Market, a loose federation of jolly important countries in western Europe. However, he didn't tell us that he was going to give the Common Market all the important national decisions and effectively undermine our own Government. But it would appear that these are not the worst of his crimes. Today they've told us that he liked nothing more than to play with children. That's a funny thing for a grown up man to do isn't it? I don't mean like Daddy pushes you on the swings - no - the allegations are that he did naughty things to children. He can't tell us because he died a long time ago. Now then, I don't know whether he did or if he didn't, but here's a word to the wise children - never, ever, trust a politician. Even when they've been dead they can come back to haunt you.

I hope that it's not true. His house is in the Close here and it's going to be shut down if these allegations are proven. People will lose their jobs.

Oh my! Never trust an Uncle Ted who often asks you to come sit on his lap! Free burgers and ice cream, but he can never have a slice of SmilePie!
