Do You listen to Internet Radio?

Just curious to see how many of my fellow Mylotters listen to Internet Radio? To clarify I don't mean like Pandora or similar services, I mean legitimate Internet Radio Stations run in a similar fashion to your typical FM radio station. Do you listen to internet radio and what are your thoughts?

I listen to a few FM stations that I cannot hear at home. Not true Internet radio, but I would not be able to listen them without Internet.

I too listen to stations i couldn't hear otherwise online, like 93x in Minneapolis. I also listen to true online stations like Insane Realm Radio, The Indie authority and a few others.

I listen to internet radio sometimes. I like foreign radio stations because they give me the chance to listen to pop and rock music from around the world. I also like to listen to oldies radio stations. I like music from the 80's and the 90's. Sometimes I prefer to listen to music videos on YouTube instead of internet radio stations.

Do you have any favorite stations that you listen to frequently? What drew you to those stations?

@Porcospino I have a wide taste in music but I tend to gravitate toward classic rock and metal. I'll check out the stations above. Thanks for sharing!

@glasser3 I listen to a radio station from the Netherlands. It is called Radio 10 gold 80's. I also like Golden radio from Italy and Hot mix radio 80's from France. I don't really like the new music, and I listen to those radio stations because they play songs from the past.

i download and listen to a huge amount of podcast/talk shows, mostly of the comedy genre. (i download them because then i can listen to them while walking to work or on my breaks at work, and can easily pause them and pick up where i left off)

I have done this in the past. Some of my favorite shows like The Women of Metal show and Do You Know Jack Radio Show are or were at one time or another available as a podcast. It is very convenient to be able to take it with and listen at your own convenience.

I listen to Internet Radio from time to time, especially when I want to write something and I need an audio background to inspire. Depending on my mood or level of energy for day, I look for classical rock or metal stations. Now that myLot is back in my life after a long hiatus I think I will listen to Internet radio stations more often because it offers me the energy and motivation to keep on posting here instead of spending my evenings lying on the couch in front of the TV.

I'm the same way, I listen to music when I'm doing things like writing, research, etc. Do you have any specific stations you listen to?

I don't know much about internet radio. I don't like to listen to anything when I'm on the computer because anything with words breaks my concentration.

I personally like to have something on in the background, but it also depends on what I'm working on. If I'm working on a very serious piece of writing I don't like to have anything in the background to disrupt my thoughts, this is also true of other people in my house.

I like iheartradio and Tune-in radio alot I especially like Tune-in as you can discover different internet radio stations by searching which I personally find fun as you never know which artists and songs you might run across and there are a lot of good hobbyist run stations that really work hard to promote independent artists that are just as deserving as most mainstream musicians are.

I have to say I don't there just doesn't seem to be time. Since I live alone I have the tv on all of the time for company and therefore listening to the radio isn't an option as there is movement with tv. Enjoy your radio.

I can see your point of view, I personally rather listen to the radio then TV though but that's just my personal preference as I'm not a big TV watcher most of the time. Living alone though I could see how having the movement of the TV would be nice as it would give some semblance of there being other life and/ or activity going on which I imagine must make being alone seem less lonely.

I don't. I listen to YouTube videos on the computer and regular radio in the car. I don't do internet radio, not sure why.

I listen to Youtube videos from time to time as well and I listen to octane on siriusxm in the car most of the time. I usually have either Youtube or an internet radio station on when I'm online though.

I have a friend who has an internet radio station (I think it's on Radio 365 or something like that), and I'll listen to that occasionally. I also listen to "real" radio stations over the internet: I have an app on my iPad called TuneIn that has radio stations from all over the country (all over the world, actually!) as well as internet stations that are genre specific (I listen to oldies and alt-country stations).
