My husband just walked by. He glanced at my computer screen as he passed. Then he stopped and did a double-take. "Is that myLot?" I put on my best innocent face. "Yes..." "I thought you were done with that since they stopped paying?" "I was..." "What happened?" "They started paying again and everyone's coming back." And then he quirked an eyebrow and asked me the big question. "So... how much have you made?" *mumblemumble* He shook his head and walked off. Maybe I should have warned him that he was going to become a myLot widower again... It's my response to being an occasional FFXIV widow.

Don't worry about it. MyLot is well worth it. Believe me. I have been on here more today than my other sites. I just really love it here.

I do, too. I've been looking for a forum that could compare to myLot for years (since they stopped paying and all the spammers came out of the woodwork) and there just hasn't been one out there. It really is a unique community as far as these things go.

@yukimori I know all about Bubblews and also Persona Paper. But the real question is, do they really stack up to MyLot. I say MyLot ebbs them out. No doubt. But I still like the other sites.

Writers like us will never be understood like the kind of husband you have, who is exactly just like my husband! LOL But you know, going back to our "writing home", it just feels different, right?

@jenny1015 It really is. I was a little weirded out by how easy it is to fall back into the old habits, but it seems like I'm not the only one who feels that way! Maybe it's something like muscle memory... once you figure it out, you never really 'lose' it.

It definitely feels different. The site may not look quite the same as it used to be, but it has the same feeling now that so many users are coming back here.

Typical reaction from a non-user! Not "Oh, are you having fun there?" but "How much money are you making, then?" Mind you, many of us are partly to blame for this attitude because, when people ask why we visit a site, its a lot easier to say "Because I can earn a little money there." than to go into a long-winded explanation - which may raise further questions - about how it's a community where one can meet people and discuss interesting topics (which is quite likely to make the unconvinced mentally write it off as a "Waste of time when you could be doing other things".)

I agree with you that participation for fun is the main draw that glues most of us here. Of course the money is nice but if it is not a fun community, I don't think there are that many addicted users.

It is the typical reaction, but it's also a running joke between us. He used to ask me how much I'd made because it was a way to tell how much time I'd been spending here lately. When he's playing games, I'll ask him how many levels he's gone up. Although that doesn't quite work out the same, because it takes a lot longer to get through the higher levels than the lower ones! So I guess in a way it is kind of like asking how much fun I'm having here.

Maybe that incident just goes to show that the earnings, the way they are, are perfect. If they were higher and we earnt too much here then you probably wouldn't have had time to reply to him lol

So true ! If myLot was paying more, he probably would have to join to send a divorce notice.

Oh, he definitely thinks it's more productive than where I've been hanging out online for the last couple of years. I think he's tired of hearing me tell him about all the drama that's been happening there...

My husband (fiance) is a writer himself so he understands He's also a gamer In the end he's more of a gamer and I'm more of a writer, so it works out but we still make time for each other.

My husband doesn't care much for writing, but he gets how much I enjoy it. He's definitely more of a gamer than I am, but it works out well because he'll ask me to help him flesh out story ideas for games he's working on.

He should better look on the bright side of things, and organize his life differently. For instance, he will not be anymore afraid to tell you "I am going to have a drink outdoors. Don't wait for me, I will be out late at night", as you will not listen to him.

Quick quick, get a bag to put the cat back in! I love that expression. Tell him he should join you here on My Lot if he's worried about becoming a widower to it.
