Medieval Following Me

Those who know me will be aware that I have more than a passing love affair with the Middle Ages. The 13th Century in particular, but I'm not too fussy provided that so far as England's concerned that it's after about the 9th Century. That's not to suggest that anything earlier should be ignored of course. As part of my studies into 'Matters Medieval' as I like to call it, I have to maintain a Twitter account. One of the things that shock me still is the fact that quite eminent historians seem to like what I Tweet or re-Tweet. I have admired my latest 'follower' for some time and have his books. The idea that he follows ME is really quite surreal. I am blown away by it all.

I can believe it - you have a way with words, you know. It's not just about the knowledge, but how well you communicate it. So now may we have your autograph? Hee hee. Oh, I wanted to tell you not too long ago we saw a piece (draft I think) of the Magna Carta at the Huntington Library out here - wasn't that one of your specialties?

Well hello there. Funny how we've all come rushing back. The lure of hard cash I suspect but it's lovely to see so many familiar faces - or avatars anyway. Yes, Magna Carta is something that I know a little about - I even got to see the Queen at the 15th June celebrations at Runnymede, where the Charter was sealed in 1215. Hope to see more of you.

Have you thought that you may now be regarded as an 'eminent historian' by others?
