There is another group we can call heroes also and that is our Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) they also arrive in an emergency situation to save or stabilize someone until they can be transported to a hospital or trauma center. One of their most important responsibilities is knowing how to lift and carry patients in a way that ensures their safety. I am sure there are even more groups we could call heroes..

Mavic, teachers are definitely heroes also. They do not make enough money for teaching our young ones and I wish that would change.

Teachers should be earning a decent wage for their efforts to help our children after all look at the earning of football and baseball players. No one can tell me they are more important than a teacher. I also think some of the subjects taught in schools should be changed to match todays world.

My town has less than 60 people in it and numbers are dwindling all the time.........but to my mind each and every one of them is a hero for lives well lived if nothing else.

@Marcyaz Most of our townspeople are retired farmers/farm wives. To listen to them talk about their lives is an education in the growth and sustainability of this country. I salute every one of them.

Polie, firemen and EMT's are often referred to as heroes. We need those services in our communities. Without them, many more people would die or suffer. We should be happy we have those services.
