Why is this titled Canoe Trip #1.5 and not Canoe Trip #2? Because the marina only had one canoe available and for an extra $5 an hour, we could get a 2-person kayak, so we had a canoe/kayak trip.
I choose this photo because it turned out better than I thought. I was on the dock at the lodge and saw the sun making sparkling lights on the water and I just had to try and get a picture.
This time we canoed/kayaked straight to the dam and then back to the lodge. The area about halfway between the lodge and the dam is the border going from one county to another. I was hoping they had a landmark to show where the border is, but they didn't.
This video is at the dam where we watched birds diving down and fish diving up for insects.
At the lodge, my husband and one son went up to get some drinks, even though we already had bottles of water. My other son and I laid down the towels and the food we had packed for a mid-trip energy source.
My boys had taken the kayak and our next stop was the beach. Since the kayak is faster and my youngest loved it, instead of my husband and I taking over the kayak (because I have never been in a kayak before) I said that we can switch at the beach and that is what we did.
Truthfully, though I loved the fact that I was lower in the water and was able to lean back in the kayak, I much prefer the canoe. Whether it is because I am used to canoes or the fact that in a canoe when I get tired, I just switch arms while in the kayak I have to stop paddling altogether.
If you have been in both a canoe and a kayak, what do you prefer and why?

Oh that sounds like fun, but I haven't done either officially (only the Disneyland thing in the Mark Twain river with a large group). My daughter went on a field trip with her grade this year for water safety and they enjoyed a kayaking race!

@Carmelanirel2 Cute! The kids always say they wish they could sit in the middle of the lake like that like the birds do!

It is fun and I forgot to share a picture with @RoseKitty, I will do that after I share this one with you. This is a bird on a post that just sat there as we went by.

I personally like looking and enjoying from afar..I am an Earth sign and love land..water and dirt are slimy and fun, but somehow it scares me, so i don't go in it..unless it's a puddle to splash in!!

I forgot to share a picture with you. This is the spread we laid out to snack on for more energy to make it back to the marina.
