Rent a friend

Some time ago I read about a site called ”Rent a friend”. If you need a friend you can rent a woman or a man. You pay them at least $10 per hour, and they participate in the activities that you have chosen. There are many options for instance parties, dinner, clubbing, concerts and sports activities. It is an international site and you can rent people from around the world. I don't think that I would use that kind of site. I would find it a little strange to pay a person to spend time with me, and it would be hard to forget that the person isn't doing it because they like me but because I pay them to spend time with me. Some people have a different opinion, and some of the members have rented friends several times. What you think about a site like ”Rent a friend”? Would you rent a friend or let people rent you?

No. I dont think I would either rent out someone or even try getting rented out to someone. I somehow dont understand the logic and rationality with "Rent" and "Friend" maybe they used them together to make it popular or anything else. Many today would find an "Escort" more apt a term for such things.

It says on their site that it isn't a dating service or an escort service, but some people might misunderstand the concept (?) If we sign up and let people rent us it is possible that they expect more than friendship.

@Porcospino Exactly. When it all started out here in India, they did not use the word "Escort Services" back then. But eventually, things turned out that way. As for the site in Question, yes, they might be a site for better purposes, but we all know, when there is anything good out there, people start (ab)using that sooner.

@Porcospino I know a professional massage therapist that was sometimes confused with another service. You might need referrals to figure it out?

Yes, I think that it is the same site. It started in Asia and later it became a worldwide site.

It is difficult to pass judgement without learning more about it. I read how someone sold their life. How does a person sell their life? They sold their house, furniture, car, clothes, seat in the restaurant they go too (good tipper) all to one person. I don't know. I thought it was just a sales gimmick but this one does sound interesting if you need to pretend you throw cool parties?

It is hard to understand why the person sold all those things. When I read your post my first thought was that the person got rid of all of their stuff because they wanted to start over, but there could be other reasons.

I think its find of weird but I do't mind getting rented. as long as I tell people where I am and have them check on me every once in a while

I think that I would be worried about my safety if I let people rent me. They could be nice and harmless people, but it is hard to know that if I have never met them.

Sounds strange! You may need a 'friend', if he/she is around?!!!

I'm not interesting in renting a friend. I'd let someone rent me though. However, I won't go for less than $100 (U.S. dollars) an hour!

I am with you on this. Those who are on sites like myLot have enough friends to spend time with. And in the real world I like the way it is and that is have just a couple or two

waw, never hear about that before. what site of it ? i think the people set up this site just want people would know more friends and get some tips , it makes more funny or make more people join in. but in the traditional way ,like facebook or twitter looks more comfortable to make friends. haha
