Newborn baby found in dumpster

Some days ago a newborn baby was found in a garbage dumpster in Ballerup, Denmark. The baby was alive and she had been placed inside a bag. Other Danish babies have been abandoned in the past, and most of them were found alive and placed in foster care, but some of them died before they were found. The police hasn't found the mother, but she is probably very young, mentally ill or a prostitute. In Denmark women don't usually abandon their babies because of poverty. It is possible to get help if you are poor. In the past it was a disgrace to get pregnant outside marriage, and many babies were killed or abandoned. Today the situation is different and people don't look down on mothers who aren't married. In some countries a huge number of babies are abandoned every year. What it is like in your country?
